Crochet Heart Corner Bookmark

Materials:
Size 10 crochet thread in two colors
Crochet hook size 8 or 9
Small ribbon rose with bow OR small tassel
Make 2 of these hearts
Using the darker color of thread and size crochet hook of your choice, ch 34; join with a sl st to the first chain (being careful not to twist the chain.)
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 2 more dc in the same ch; dc in each of the next 6 chs, 2 dc in each of the next 8 chs, (yo, insert hook in the next ch and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook) 5 times, yo and pull through all 6 remaining loops on hook, 2 dc in each of the next 8 ch, dc in each of the next 6 ch, 2 dc in the same ch as beginning ch 3; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Round 2: Join the lighter color with a sc to the joining on round 1; (ch 3, skip next dc, sc in the next dc) 11 times, ch 3, skip next dc (insert hook in the next st and pull up a loop) 3 times, yo and pull throuch all 4 remaining loops on hook, (ch 3, skip next dc, sc in the next dc) 11 times, ch 3, sc in the same st as first sc, ch 3, join with a sl st to the first sc.
Round 3: (Sc, ch 3, sc) in the next ch 3 sp and in each ch 3 sp around. Fasten off. weave in ends.
Place one heart on top of the other with wrong sides together, matching shapes. Locate the last ch 3 loop at the point of the top heart and count back 6 loops. Join lighter colored thread with a sc through this loop of both hearts, (ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 loop of both hearts) 6 times, ch 5, sc in the same loop, (ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 loop of both hearts) 6 times, working in the ch 3 loops of the top heart ONLY, (ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 loop) 12 times, ch 3, join with a sl st to the first sc, turn; working in the ch 3 loops of the bottom heart ONLY, (ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 loop) 12 times, ch 3, join with a sl st to the next sc. Fasten off. Sew rose or tassel to ch 5 at the point of the heart.
