Notes

Skill Level: This pattern is suitable for beginners who are comfortable with basic crochet stitches like double crochet and working in rounds. The heart appliqué requires some basic shaping, but don't worry, it's easy to follow along!

Customization: You can easily adjust the size of the scarf by adding or subtracting rows. Feel free to experiment with different heart colors for a unique look!

Heart Appliqués: The heart appliqués are attached on top of the scarf once the main body is finished. You can place them as close or as far apart as you'd like to create the perfect design.

Instructions

For this Crochet Heart Scarf Pattern, we will be working in the rows.
Red Crochet Scarf:
Row 1: Using the red yarn, ch x28 (28).
Row 2: Dc in the 3rd chain from the hook. Then make dc stitches for the rest of the chain length. After, ch x2 and turn (26).
Row 3-138: Repeat row 2 (26).

Crochet Heart:

Make 2 hearts using all 3 rounds for a large heart, then 1 heart with just 2 rows for a medium sized heart.
Round 1: Using the white yarn, ch x2 and dc x15 into the ring. Then sl st to the top of the 1st dc you made, pull the ring tight (15).
Round 2: Ch x1, then hdc into the same stitch. Dc x4 into the next stitch, then hdc inc in the next. Sc in the next 4 stitches. You are now at the bottom of the heart so make a hdc, dc, and hdc into one stitch. Then sc x4, and hdc inc in the next. Dc x4 in next, hdc in the next stitch. Then ch x1 and sl st to the sl st from joining the last round together (27). (Stop here for a medium heart)

Round 3: Ch x1, then hdc where you made the first hdc in the last round. Then follow the rest of the sequence of stitches for the round:
Hdc, dc, dc inc x3 (one increase in the next 3 stitches), dc, hdc in the next 5 stitches, hdc + dc + hdc for the bottom stitch, hdc in the next 5 stitches, dc, dc inc x3, hdc x2, ch x1 sl st to the sl st from the first round to make a deep indent at the top of the heart (35).
Then fasten off and leave long ends for sewing.

Sewing:

Sew the hearts to where you want on the scarf. I did 2 large hearts at the bottom with the smaller heart on top all at slightly different angles.

Scarf Fringe:

For the fringe cut 112 x12 inch pieces of yarn with the white yarn or a contrasting color.
To attach the fringe to the crochet heart scarf, grab 2 pieces of yarn, then pinch the strands of yarn at the middle and make a loop, insert a hook into the short side of the scarf and pull the yarn through the bottom stitch.

Then using your fingers take the ends of the fringe and loop them through the hole you made and pull tight.
Repeat the above step for the entire width of the scarf. Repeat on the other side of the scarf. I put 1 group of fringe per stitch.
After all the fringe is attached, trim the bottom so the yarn is nice and all lined up.
I hope you enjoyed making this sweet and cozy crochet heart scarf pattern!
