Materials

  • Yarn
  • Size 7 /1.65mm steel crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

Gauge

  • cross-sts = 1 1/4 inches; 8 cross-st and 7 sc rows = 2 1/2 inches

Special stitch

Cross-stitch (cross-st): Sk next st. dc in next st. dc in st just sk.

INSTRUCTIONS

BOOKMARK

Row 1 (WS): With pink, ch 15, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (14 sc)

Row 2: Ch 3 (see Pattern Note), cross-st (see Special Stitch) across with dc in last st. turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (14 sc)

Rows 4-35: [Rep rows 2 and 3 alternately] 16 times.

Edging

Working around outer edge in ends of rows and in sts. ch 1, sc in first st. [ch 3, sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 3 sts] 4 times, ch 3, (sc, ch 3, sc) in last st. [ch 3, sc dec in ends of next 2 rows] 17 times, working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1,ch 3, sc in first ch. [ch 3, sc dec in next 3 chs] 4 times, ch 3, sc in last ch. [ch 3, sc dec in ends of next 2 rows] 17 times, ch 3, sc in end of last row, ch 3, join with sl st in beg sc. Fasten off.

Ribbon

Row 1: With rose, ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs count as first dc), hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. turn. (4 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st. hdc in next st. dc in each of last 2 sts. turn.

Rows 3-26: Ch 3, dc in each st across, turn

Row 27: Ch 3, dc in next st. hdc in next st. sc in last st. turn

Row 28: Ch 1, sc in first st. hdc in next st. dc in each of last 2 sts. Fasten off

Finishing

Fold Ribbon as shown in photo. Place at top edge of Bookmark with center of Ribbon 3/4 inch down from edge

Bow

Cut 36-inch length of white, insert through center of crossed Ribbon and Bookmark from front to back to front. Tie center of thread into knot at front. Make slip knot next to tied knot and ch 30 on each end of thread Fasten off Tie chs into bow. Shorten 1 ch if necessary. Trim ends to 1/4 inch from knot
