​Knit Coat for Small Princess

You’ll need:

400g of Lanagold yarn (50% wool, 50% acryl; 240m/100g);

Knitting needles 5.

Size: 4-5 years.

Instructions

Front

Cast on 70 sts and work with seed stitch pattern 2 x 2, make 6 sts from one side with garter stitch. At 25 cm height from the beginning of work, decrease the sts in every 2 sts until there are 32 sts left on the knitting needles. Continue work, making 4 knit sts and 2 purls by turn, make 4 knit sts with 2 x 2 rib, cross it in every 4^th row. After knitting 30 cm, decrease 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st from outer edge for arm-holes. At 15 cm height from the arm-holes, start forming neck-hole, for this, bind off 1 x 6 sts, 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 1 x 1 st from inwards and finish both sides separately. Make 3 button-holes. Finish your work, when the height of yoke is 22 cm.

Back

Cast on 125 sts and work with seed stitch pattern 2 x 2. At 25 cm height from the beginning of work, decrease sts in every 2 sts, until there are 63 sts left on the knitting needles. Continue work, making 4 knit sts and 2 purls by turn, make 4 knit sts with 2 x 2 cable, cross it in every 4^th row. After knitting 30 cm, decrease 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 1 x 1 st. At 20 cm height, bind off the central 13 sts for the neck-hole. Finish your work at 22 cm height of yoke.

Sleeves

Cast on 36 sts and make 4 knit sts and 2 purls by turn, make 4 knit sts with 2 x 2 cable, cross it in every 4^th row. At 14 cm height from the beginning of work, make increases, make 2 sts out of 1 st, until there are 72 sts. Continue work with seed stitch. After knitting 9 cm, decrease 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st from both sides. After knitting 10 cm more, bind off the sts.

Belt on the Back

Cast on 10 sts and make a stripe 12 cm long with garter stitch.

Assembly

Make side and shoulder seams, sew up the sleeves. Sew the belt with 2 buttons to the back. For the collar, cast on 55 sts along the neck-hole and make 10 cm of garter stitch.
