Tunic-Dress with Cables
You’ll need:
350 (350) 400 (400)g of Sandnes Mini Duett yarn (55% cotton, 45% wool; 175m/50g) in beige color;
Circular knitting needles 2,5 and 3.
Size: М (L) XL (XXL).
Waist circumference: 88 (93) 99 (104) cm;
Length: 80 (81) 82 (82) cm.
Stitches control: 27 sts = 10 cm.
Instructions
Front and Back
Cast on 288 (300) 324 (336) sts with knitting needles 3 and knit around with rib * 1 row of purls, 1 row of knit sts*; repeat from * to * for about 12 rows. Mark the sides with contrast yarn: 144 (150) 162 (168) sts for each part. Start with one side, make 23 knit sts, pattern due to the scheme A (14 sts), stockinette stitch until there are 37 sts left to the contrast yarn, make pattern due to the scheme B (14 sts), 23 knit sts = side contrast yarn, repeat the same actions for another side. Knit for 22 cm. Then, decrease 1 st from both sides of cables in the following way: knit until there are 2 sts left to the scheme A, knit2tog, pattern due to the scheme, slip 1 st without knitting, 1 knit st, draw slipped st through knit st, work until there are 2 sts left to the next cable, repeat these decreases, repeat these decrease for the second half – there are 8 sts decreased. Repeat these decreases every 5 cm, until you make them for 6 (6) 7 (7) times = 240 (252) 268 (280) sts. Knit to 62 cm height. Bind off the arm-holes. Make 5 sts after the contrast yarn, bind off 10 sts, knit 5 sts along the second side after the contrast yarn, bind off 10 sts. Then, knit both sides separately, bind off the sts for sleeve caps on RS in the following way: knit 2 sts, knit2tog, knit until there are 4 sts left, slip 1 st without knitting, 1 knit st, draw the slipped st through knit st, 2 knit sts. Repeat the decreases until there are 98 (104) 112 (118) sts left. Transfer the sts to the auxiliary needle, make the second half in the same way.
Sleeves
At first, cast on 66 (70) 70 (74) sts for the first half. Then, cast on 58 (62) 70 (70) sts and make the second half = 328 (348) 364 (384) sts. Knit the pattern in the same way, as for back and front, make sleeves with rib: 2 purls * 2 knit sts, 2 purls*; repeat from * to * for the whole sleeve. Continue making decreases of sts for the neck-hole on front and back, making the first 2 sts as purl2tog or knit2tog, work with rib, until there are 2 sts left on the sleeve, slip 1 st without knitting, 1 purl or 1 knit st, draw slipped st through knit st. Repeat the decreases in every 2nd row, until you make them for 14 (15) 16 (17) times. Change to knitting needles 2,5 and make * 1 row of purls, 1 row of knit sts* until you make 5 stripes, at the same time, continue making decreases on RS of your work. Bind off the sts from WS.
