​Knit Pullover with Huge Pattern

You’ll need:

550 (700) 750g of dark-blue Superlana yarn (100% merino wool; 110m/50g);

Straight knitting needles 4,5 and 5;

Circular knitting needles 4,5 and 5.

Size: S (M) L.

Used Patterns

Rib, knitting needles 4,5: 1 selvage st, * 1 knit st, 2 purls, 1 knit st*; repeat from * to *, 1 selvage st. In WS rows make the sts due to the pattern.

Make all the other pattern with knitting needles 5.

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;

Wrong-side pattern: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit sts;

Cable A (16 sts wide): 1^st and 3^rd rows: 2 purls, 3 knit sts, 6 purls, 3 knit sts, 2 purls;

2^nd and all WS rows: due to the pattern;

5^th row: 2 purls, cross 6 knit sts to the left (= leave 3 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 3 knit sts, 3 knit sts from the auxiliary needle), cross 6 knit sts to the right (= leave 3 sts on the auxiliary needle behind work, 3 knit sts, 3 knit sts from the auxiliary needle), 2 purls;

7^th row: as the 1^st row.

Repeat 1^st-8^th rows.

Cable B (19 sts wide): 1^st and 3^rd rows: 2 purls, 15 knit sts, 2 purls;

2^nd and all the WS rows: due to the pattern;

5^th row: 2 purls, cross 10 knit sts to the left (= leave 5 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 5 knit sts, 5 knit sts from the auxiliary needle), 5 knit sts, 2 purls;

7^th, 9^th, 11^th rows: as the 1^st row;

13^th row: 2 purls, 5 knit sts, cross 10 knit sts to the right (= leave 5 sts on the auxiliary needle behind work, 5 knit sts, 5 knit sts from the auxiliary needle), 2 purls;

15^th row: as the 1^st row.

Repeat 1^st-16^throws.

Stars pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple 6. 1^st row: purl;

2^nd row: * purl5tog, make 5 sts out of 1 st (= 1 knit st, 1 purl, 1 knit st, 1 purl, 1 knit st)*; repeat from * to *;

3^rd row: purl;

4th row: knit;

5^th row: purl;

6^th row: * make 5 sts out of 1 st, purl5tog*; repeat from * to *;

7^th row: purl;

8^th row: knit.

Repeat 1^st-8^th rows.

Stitches control: 24 sts x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Stockinette stitch: 19 sts x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Cast on 102 (110) 118 sts and make 11 cm of rib, increase 10 sts in the last row = 112 (120) 128 sts. Then, divide the sts in the following way: 1 selvage st, 2 (6) 10 sts of rib, start from 2 knit sts, 16 sts of cable A, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 19 sts of cable B, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 24 sts of stars pattern, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 19 sts of cable B, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 19 sts of cable B, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 16 sts of cable A, 2 (6) 10 sts of rib, start with 2 knit sts, 1 selvage st. In 38,5 cm = 96 rows (37 cm = 92 rows) 35,5 cm = 88 rows from rib, bind off 1 x 7 sts from both sides for arm-holes = 98 (106) 114 sts. In 53,5 cm = 134 rows from rib, bind off the central 24 (26) 28 sts for neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 3 x 5 sts in every 2^nd row from inwards. In 57 cm = 142 rows from rib, bind off the rest 22 (25) 28 sts of shoulder.

Front

Make in the same way, as back, but with deeper neck-hole. For this, in 50,5 cm = 126 rows from rib, bind off the central 22 (24) 26 sts and 1 x 4 sts, 1 x 3 sts, 4 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in every 2^nd row.

Sleeves

Cast on 50 (54) 58 sts and make 8 cm of rib, increase 1 (3) 5 sts in the last row = 51 (57) 63 sts. Then, divide the sts in the following way: 1 selvage st, 11 (14) 17 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 19 sts of cable B, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 11 (14) 17 sts of stockinette stitch, 1 selvage st. For chamfers, increase 13 x 1 st in every 8^th row from rib, include the increased sts in stockinette stitch = 77 (83) 89 sts. In 47 cm = 118 rows from rib, bind off all the sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. Cast on 84 (88) 92 sts along the neck-hole line with knitting needles 5 and work with rib. In 3,5 cm, continue work with knitting needles 4,5. In 6 cm from the beginning of trim, bind off all the sts due to the pattern. Sew up the sleeves. Make side and sleeve seams.
