You’ll need:
9 skeins of white or ivory thick yarn (25m/100g);
Knitting needles 20;
Big crochet hook;
Circle knitting needles;
Pin.
Size: XS-S-M.
Chest circumference: 91,5 (104, 117) cm.
Length: 58,5 (58,5, 61) cm.
Sleeve: 35,5 (35,5, 39) cm.
Stitches control: 5 sts х 8 rows = 10 х 10 cm of stockinette stitch with knitting needles 20.
Used Patterns
Cable of 8 sts: transfer 4 sts to the auxiliary needle behind work, 4 knit sts, 4 knit sts from the auxiliary needle.
Open cast on method: cast on with auxiliary yarn, which will be taken off later.
Instructions
Main Part
Start with lower edge of back, cast on 20 (22, 24) sts.
1st row (RS): 6 (7, 8) purls, 8 knit sts, 6 (7, 8) purls;
2nd row (WS): 6 (7, 8) knit sts, 8 purls, 6 (7, 8) knit sts.
Repeat 1st-2nd rows once.
5th row: 6 purls, transfer 4 sts to the auxiliary needle behind work, 4 knit sts, 4 knit sts from the auxiliary needle (cable of 8 sts), 6 (7, 8) purls. Continue work, crossing the sts (cable) in every 8th row x 3 times at the same time, after finishing the 8th row:
9th row: 1 purl, purl2tog to the last 2 sts, purl2tog, 1 purl = 18 (20, 22) sts.
Knit 5 rowsstraight.
15th row: 1 purl, 2 purls out of 1 st, 1 purl = 20 (22, 24) sts. Knit 7 rows straight.
Sleeve
Caston 7 stswithopenmethodinthebeginningofthenext 2 rowsandcaston 6 stsinthebeginningof 3rdand 4throws. You should have 46 (48, 50) sts on the knitting needles. Knit straight for 5 (6, 6) rows.
Front
Next row: knit 19 (20, 21) sts, transfer the middle sts to the pin, cast on 8 sts with open method and knit straight to end of row due to the reversing cable twist rows pattern, bind off 6 sts in the beginning of the next 2 rows, when there are 14 (16, 16) rows on the knitting needle, and cast on 7 sts in the beginning of the 3rd and 4th rows. Knit straight for 7 rows, repeat the 9th row of back. Knit straight for 5 rows, repeat the 15th row. Knit straight for 8 rows, bind off the sts.
Assembly
Make side and sleeve seams. Make 1 long slip st in every 2nd row along the lower edge of each cuff.
Collar
It is made in tubular knitting technique.
Cast on 1 st along the RS of collar.
1st row: * transfer 1 st from the front pin to the knitting needle, transfer 1 st from the behind pin to the knitting needle*; repeat from * to * to end of row.
Cast on 1 knit st on the opposite side of collar = 18 sts on the knitting needles. Turn your work.
Next row: * 1 knit st, slip 1 st, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to * to the last st, 1 knit st.
Repeat the last row x 4 times.
Slip the odd sts to the one knitting needle, even sts – to another one. Bind off the sts.
