Materials Needed:

Sport weight/category 2 yarn
3.5 mm crochet hook
3 mm crochet hook
thin satin ribbon
yarn needle
measuring tape
Size:
About 7 inches (17.5 cm) high and 4.75 inches (12 cm wide)

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:

** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed
[ ] - Repeat instructions within parenthsis as a set as many times as directed
ch - chain
st/sts - stitch/stitches
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

Instruction

Round 1: Using 3 mm crochet hook ch 32, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in rest of the chs across except the last, 5 dc in last ch, dc in 29 ch on the other side, 3 dc in next ch. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc. (64 sts)

Change to 3.5 mm hook
Round 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), [dc, ch 1, dc] in same st, skip 3 sts, dc in next st, skip 3 sts, **[dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc] in the next st, skip 3 sts, dc in next st, skip 3 sts** Repeat from ** to ** around, [dc, ch 1] in the 1st st at the beginning of round. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch.

Round 3: Sl st in the next space, ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), [dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc] in next single dc, **dc in the 2nd ch-1 space, [dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc] in the next single dc** Repeat from ** to ** around, skip 3 sts, sl st in the 3rd ch at the beginning of the round.

Round 4: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), [dc, ch 1, dc] in same st, dc in the 2nd ch-1 space, **[dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc] in the single dc, dc in 2nd ch-1 space** Repeat from ** to ** around, [dc, ch 1] in the 1st st at the beginning of round. Join with a sl st to the 1st st.
Repeat rounds 3 and 4 until about 13 cm high finishing with round 4.


Edging:

Round 1: Sl st in next ch-1 space, ch 4, dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, dc in the single dc, **(ch 1, dc in next ch-1 space) 3 times, ch 1, dc in the next single dc** Repeat from ** to ** around, ch 1, dc in last ch-1 space, ch 1. Join with a sl st to 3rd ch at the beginning of round.

Round 2:Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), [dc, ch 1, dc] in same st, ch 1, skip next dc, sc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc, **[dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc] in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc, sc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc** Repeat from ** to ** around, [dc, ch 1] in the 1st st at the beginning of round. Join with a sl st to the 1st st.

Round 3: Sl st in the next space, ch 6, sl st in the 3rd ch from hook (picot), dc in same space, ch 1, [dc, picot (ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch), dc] in same space, skip ch-1 spaces before and after sc, repeat [dc, picot, dc] in the ch-1 space of each shell around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch. Fasten off and weave in the loose ends of yarn.

Cut out a piece of thin satin ribbon long enough to go around the bag and weave one end through the ch-1 space of round 1 of edging at the center of the pouch, going all way around and coming to the same space where you started.
