Crochet the number of chains needed to measure the length of your book. In my case, the length is approx. 8” and I made 53 chains. Do not cut the yarn.
Mushroom Bulb
Round 1: work 6 sc in the 2nd ch from hook
Round 2: inc in each st around (12 sts)
Rounds 3-4: sc in each st around (12 sts)
Round 5: dec x 6 (6 sts)
Cut the yarn and leave a long tail to weave in the ends into the bulb and use the rest of the yarn to flatten the base of the mushroom stem, read on for instructions on how to do this.
Flattening the base
You can either tie a knot at the end of the yarn or leave a little strand to weave in after, then, insert the needle around the center of the stem base and bring it through toward the top of the mushroom cap.
Tip: Try to bring the tan yarn up through one of the white spots to help hide the yarn.
Gently tug on the yarn until you’re happy with how the stem base looks.
Then just weave in all the ends.
