A bone ring.

Use thread double throughout.

GAUGE: 9 sc make 2 inches; 9 rows make 2 inches.

Starting at wrist edge with Yellow, ch 21. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. At end of 4th row, drop Yellow. 5th row: Attach Brown to first sc, sc in same place and in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 6th row: Sc in each sc across. Drop Brown. The first 6 rows establish color pattern. 7th to 10th rows incl: Pick up Yellow and sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 11th row: Sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc (1 sc increased for thumb shaping) Ch 1, turn. 12th row: Repeat fifth row. 13th row: Repeat 11th row. 14th row: Sc in each sc across to within last 2 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc (1 sc decreased). 15th and 16th rows. Repeat 13th and 14th rows. Break off Yellow. 17th row: Sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

THUMB ... 1st row: Sc in first 6 sc. Turn. 2nd row: Attach Yellow to first sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Skip first sc, sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 5th and 6th rows: Repeat 3rd and 4th rows. 7th row: Dec 1 sc at beginning and end of row. Break off.

Attach Brown at base of thumb in same sc as last sc of thumb and continue to work in pattern until 23 rows have been completed. 24th row: Sc in each sc, dec 1 sc at end of row. 25th to 29th rows incl: Work in pattern without decreasing. 30th row: Sc in each sc across, decreasing 1 sc at end of row. 31st row: Work without decreasing. 32nd and 33rd rows: Repeat last 2 rows. Now dec 1 sc at both ends of each row until 8 sc remain. Break off. Make another piece the same way. Holding pieces together and working through both thicknesses, attach Brown at wrist edge, sc closely around to other side of wrist edge. Break off. With Brown sc closely around bone ring. Sew ring in place.
