Into the last stitch of the row, place 1 SS. CH 1 and turn for all rows except the end of row 37. After completing the last row, please fasten off instead.
(20 SS, 19 HDC stitches = 39 stitches)
Edging:
(I find fastening off and re-joining the yarn in the middle of an edge provides a neater finish for the border. If you have a different method for working your border, please feel free!)
This edging adds a little something extra from a traditional SC border. The SS can make the edges a little tight but by adding a CH 1 between each, it creates a fun and simple textured zig-zag appearance that keeps some flexibility and looseness in the fabric.
Join yarn into the middle of any edge with a SS and CH 1. Evenly place 1 SS, CH 1 into each stitch, around all edges. Make 1 SS, CH 2, 1 SS, CH 1 into each corner space. SS into the beginning SS, fasten off and weave in all ends.
Great job! Your Extended Stitch Washcloth is complete!
