WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Yarn
DK (lightweight, 8ply) 100% cotton yarn, 1.7 ounces (50 grams), and 125 yards (115 meters) per skein.
- You will need one skein per washcloth. The washcloth will use about 100 yards (92 meters) of yarn.
- A small amount of contrasting colored yarn for the edging, or you could crochet them in the same color as the washcloth.
Crochet Hook
- 3.75mm (F) or a crochet hook size to obtain the correct gauge.

FINISHED SIZE
The washcloth measures approximately 8.5 x 8.5 inches (21.5 x 21.5 cm)
HOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENT SIZE CROCHET WASHCLOTH
I crocheted my washcloth with a foundation chain of 32 and 30 rows, but you can change the size of your washcloth by using an even number of chains and any number of rows.
If you make your washcloth larger, you may need additional yarn.
GAUGE
8 stitch groups worked in Suzette stitch (1 sc, 1 dc same stitch) 17 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm).
Check your gauge: Use any hook size to obtain the correct gauge.

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

Foundation - Chain 32
Row 1: (sc, dc) in 2nd ch from hook, *skip ch, (sc, dc) in next ch, repeat from * to end of the row, turn. = 15 x (sc, dc) stitch groups across the row.
Row 2: Ch 1, *skip dc, (sc, dc) in sc of the row below, repeat from * to the end of the row, and turn. = 15 x (sc, dc) stitch groups across the row.
Row 3 - 30 (or until the piece is square): Repeat Row 2.
If you would like to add a border don’t cut the yarn and follow the steps below.
BORDER
SINGLE CROCHET BORDER
Round 1 - Sc in first corner and in each stitch across the top of your washcloth, 3 sc in corner, sc along the side of your washcloth as evenly as possible, 3 sc in corner, sc along the bottom of your washcloth, 3 sc in corner, sc along the side of your washcloth as evenly as possible, 2 sc in last corner. Sl st to the frist sc. Cut yarn and weave in your ends.
PICOT BORDER
Round 2 - Attach the second color yarn into any stitch on a side. Ch1, sc in same space as ch1, (ch3 sl st into the base first ch1 of the ch3), sc in next st *(sc, ch3, sl st into the base first ch), sc in next stitch, repeat from * around all sides, then slip stitch into the first sc, ch1 cut yarn and fasten off.
FINISHING
Use a yarn needle and weave in the loose ends.
