  • US K (6.00 mm) crochet hook
  • US G (4.00 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

  • K: 5.5” x 5.5” = 9 rows x 18 dcs
  • G: 4.5” x 4.5” = 19 dcs x 9 rows

Terms/stitches used:

  • Ch: chain
  • St: stitch
  • Slip st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Spike sc: spike single crochet

Notes:

  • This pattern is worked in 2 sections: the band and the top. The band is worked flat, in rows back and forth with at turn at the beginn/ end of the row, which you then seam up by securing the first row to the last. The top is worked in the round along the edge of the band, with a slip st into the first st from the last.
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the rows does not count as a stitch
  • The color changes for the 3 colors are noted in the pattern but you can change the colors as you like and create details to suit your own needs/desires.
  • The spike sc is also known as a long sc crochet. You work the spike sc over the sc from the previous row – this creates a very dense fabric.
  • With the way the color changes go in this pattern, you don’t have to fasten off between colors. You can just drop the color and pick up the next.
  • Colors in the main photo are – Color A is tan, color B is blue, and color C is mustard.
