​Knit Top with Folds

You’ll need:

100g of cream Mondial Cotton Soft yarn (100% cotton; 180m/50g);

50g of the same yarn, but in pink, yellow, beige colors (each);

Knitting needles 3;

Tapestry needle.

Used Patterns

Double rib: cast on the half of the needed quantity of sts with contrast yarn.

1^st row: working yarn * 1 knit st, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd row: * make yarn over as knit st, slip 1 purl without knitting, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *;

3^rd and all the following rows: * 1 knit st, slip 1 purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *, take off the contrast yarn.

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls.

Stitches control: 24 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Folds

Make 12 rows of stockinette stitch for the first fold, make every st of the 13^th row together with the corresponding st of the 1^st RS row, catching it from WS. Make 20 rows of stockinette stitch for every fold, make every st of the 21^st row with the corresponding st of the 9^th RS row.

Back

Cast on 102 sts with pink yarn and make 12 rows of stockinette stitch. Then, work with folds, alternate the colors in the following way: 36 rows with pink yarn (2 folds), 54 rows with yellow yarn (3 folds); then, work with stockinette stitch with cream yarn to the end of work. In 34 cm from the set-up row, bind off 3 sts from both sides and then make the side 3 sts of double rib, decrease 34 x 1 st in every 2^nd row after the first 3 sts and before the last 3 sts. At 20 cm height of arm-holes, bind off the rest 28 sts.

Front

Make in the same way, as back, but starting from the 1^st cream row, increase 66 x 1 st from the central 14 sts from both sides. At the same time, decrease 9 x 1 st in every 12^th row in 2 sts from left increases and in 2 sts of right increases. At 34 cm height, make arm-hole chamfers in the same way, as for back. At 20 cm height of arm-holes, bind off the rest sts.

Assembly

Make one shoulder seam. Cast on 173 sts along the upper edge of back and front with cream yarn and make 4 rows of double rib, then, bind off the sts. Make the second shoulder seam and side seams. Turn the bottom 6 rows of front and back to WS and sew.
