Materials
Yarn: You can use any yarn weight for this bookmark pattern. For this project, I used DK-weight yarn. The thinner the yarn, the better the finished bookmark.
I would suggest using either sport weight or DK weight yarn!
Hobbii Kind Feathers, #3 lightweight (100% Acrylic, 257 yards/235 m per 3.75 oz/100g Skein)
Hook size = 3.5 mm
Guage = is not crucial for this project.
Estimated Yardage per yarn weight: 20 Yards

The finished Heart Bookmark Crochet measures 2 by 8”. You can customize the finished size, especially the rope, by increasing or decreasing the number of chains to fit the length of the book.

Length: Increase or decrease the repeats for a longer or shorter bookmark.
How to Make a Crochet Heart Bookmark
Section 1: Heart
Round 1: In a MR, ch 3 (counts as first dc, here and throughout), 2 dc, (ch 3, 3 dc), rep () 2 more times, ch 3, join with a sl st to the beginning Ch. 12 dc, 4 corners
Round 2: ch 3, 7 dc in next st, sc in next ch 3 sp, skip next st, 8 dc in next st, sc in next ch 3 sp, sc in next 3 sts, (sc, dc, sc) in next ch 3 sp, sc in next 3 sts, sc in last ch 3 sp, join with a sl st to the first ch from the beginning ch 3. 17 dc, 11 sc
Do not fasten off.
Section 2: Rope
Option 1: Make two hearts
Join yarn with a slip stitch to the single crochet stitch at the apex.
Chain 40, pick up the second heart, slip stitch to the apex, sc in each chain across, sl st to the next st on the heart.
Fasten off.
Adjust the number of chains to fit the length of the book.
Option 2: One heart
Chain 40, turn. sc in 2nd ch from the hook and in each chain across, sl st to the next st on the heart.
Skip joining to the second heart.
