You’ll need:

200g of mohair yarn;

Crochet hook 3 mm.

Instructions

Cast on 108 sts on the knitting needles 40 cm long in the following way: * 1 st, marker, 53 sts for the central part, marker*; repeat from * to * x once. Circle the cast on sts in the ring and place marker in the beginning of row. Work due to the following description:

1st row: * 1st row due to the scheme 1, marker, 1st row due to the scheme 2 (17 sts of pattern repeat x 3 times), marker*; repeat from * to * x twice. Continue work, repeat 1st-16th rows due to the scheme 2 and 1st-17th rows due to the scheme 1 until you get 184 sts. Turn to longer knitting needles.

2nd row: * 10th row due to the scheme 1 (18 sts of pattern repeat x twice), 2nd row due to the scheme 2*; repeat from * to * x twice = 188 sts. Continue work due to the scheme 1 from to the 17th row and due to the scheme 2 to the 9th row = 220 sts. Then, make 10th-17th rows due to the scheme 1, repeat 18 sts of pattern repeat in 8 rows, at the same time, work due to the scheme 2 to the 16th row (totally, 8 times) and finish in the 16th row due to the both schemes = 680 sts: 53 sts of the central parts and 287 sts of sides. Turn to longer knitting needles, when the quantity of sts increase. Then, work due to the schemes 3 and 4.

1st row (increases): * due to the scheme 3 (repeat 22 sts of the pattern x 15 times), due to the scheme 4 (repeat 19 sts of the pattern x 3 times)*; repeat from * to * x twice = 818 sts. Continue work due to the schemes 3 and 4 to the 4th row, then, repeat 3rd and 4th rows x 9 times. Bind off all the sts.

Note: WS of work is RS of your poncho.

Collar

Cast on 108 sts from WS with short knitting needles. Place marker in the beginning of row and work in the following way:

1st row: * knit2tog, (yarn over) x twice, slip 1 st, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st*; repeat from * to * to end of row;

2nd row: * 1 knit st, 1 purl through back loop, 1 knit st through back loop (in yarn overs), 1 knit st*; repeat from * to * to end of row.

Repeat 1st-2nd rows x 12 times.

Next row of increases: * yarn over, increase 1 st, yarn over, knit2tog, (yarn over) x twice, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st*; repeat from * to * to end of row = 189 sts.

Next row: * 3 knit sts, knit2tog, (yarn over) x twice, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st*; repeat from * to * to end of row.

Next row: * yarn over, slip 1 st, knit2tog and draw it through the slipped st, yarn over, knit2tog, (yarn over) x twice, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st*; repeat from * to * to end of row.

Repeat the last 2 rows x 8 times and bind off all the sts.
