Notes
- This pattern is written in US terminology.
- This pattern is worked in rows.
- Ch2 at the beginning of the row does count as a stitch.
- For this effect, you need at least three colors; you can use 5 or more. I used three colors.
- This pattern is worked as a rectangle and then weaved in strands of yarn.
- You can make this scarf in any width and length. This sample is a short scarf.
Instructions
With color A – Ch 22
Row 1: Sc 1 in 2nd ch from hook, sc 1 in next ch and across to end of row, sc 1 in last st, turn (21 st)
Row 2: Ch 1, dc 1 in 1st st from hook, *skip 1 st, ch 1, dc 1 in next st, repeat from * to last st, dc 1 in last st, turn (21 st)
Row 3-5: Repeat row 2.
Change to color B.
Rows 6-9: Repeat row 2.
Change to color C.
Rows 10-13: Repeat row 2.
Change back to color A.
Repeat row 2 four rows in each color until you reach your desired length.
Last row: Ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st from hook, sc 1 in next and across to end of row (21 st).
Finishing
- Weave in all ends.
- Block the scarf.
- Measure 1.5 the length of your scarf and cut strands of yarn in groups of 3 for each color.
In my sample, I had 4 (3 strands) in mustard, 4 (3 strands in grey), and 2 (3 strands in brown).
Lay the scarf as in the photo and using your tapestry needle weave in 3 strands together in between the rows, leaving enough tail for fringe.
Fringe
Work two groups of 3 strands together and make a knot.
