• Premier “Parfait Chunky” 100% polyester super bulky weight #6 yarn (3.5oz/131yds; 110g/120m)

  • Main Body Color: Toffee
  • Sweater (optional): Emerald
• US size 7 (4.5mm) crochet hook
• Polyfill
• Safety eyes (8mm) and nose (8mm)
• Stitch markers
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

Pattern Notes

• This pattern is worked in continuous rounds, meaning you do not slip stitch and chain one at the end of the round. Use a stitch marker and simply continue working on the next round.
• The hook and yarn weight are completely adjustable, use whatever you enjoy!
• To make the pattern low-sew, we’ll start with the smaller pieces. As we work the body of the mouse, we’ll stitch the pieces on to reduce the amount of sewing.

Invisible Decrease: The invisible decrease is used throughout this pattern. When the pattern calls for a decrease, you’ll complete the following:

• Insert your hook into the front loop of the following two stitches. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. Yarn over, and pull through the remaining 2 loops on the hook.

Bobble Stitch: To work the bobble stitch for the hat and feet, you’ll complete the following:

• (yarn over, pull up a loop and pull through two) repeat this four more times for a total of 6 loops on the hook. Pull through all 6 loops.

Pattern Instructions

We’ll start with the small pieces to reduce the amount of sewing.

Santa Hat Bobble

Using white, chain two. In the second chain from the hook, *yarn over, pull up a loop, and pull through two* repeat this four more times for a total of six loops on the hook. Pull through all six loops. Tie off and leave a long tail to sew the bobble to the top of the hat.

Ears (make 2)

Round 1 – sc 6 in a magic ring (6)
Join with a slip stitch and tie off, leaving a long end for sewing. Tie off, leaving about 5 inches.

Arms (make 2)

Chain 6. Starting from the second ch from the hook, sl st 5. Tie off, leaving about 5 inches.

Tail (make 1)

Chain 16. Starting from the second ch from the hook, sl st 15. Tie off, leaving about 5 inches.

Peppermint

Round 1 – sc 6 in a magic ring (6)
Note: You can stop at this point if you’d like your mouse to hold a snowball! Tie off and leave a long end. Using red, sew through the center of the circle 6 times.

Main Body

Begin with red for the hat

Round 1 – sc 6 in a magic ring (6)

Round 2 – (sc 1, inc) repeat 3x (9)

Round 3 – sc around (9)

Join the bobble to the hat with a needle by pulling the bobble ends through either side of round 1. Once both ends are Inside the hat, tie a tight knot to secure it.

Round 4 – (sc 2, inc) repeat 3x (12)

Round 5 – sc around (12)

Round 6 – (sc 3, inc) repeat 3x (15)

In the last stitch of round 6, change to white.

• If you are using a yarn that is weight 5 or lower, work rounds 7-8 through both loops to prevent curling.

Place the stitch marker into the back loop of round 6.

Work round 7 with a slightly looser tension to prevent curling.

Round 7 – sc in the Flo around (15)

In the last stitch of round 7, change to mouse’s body color.

For round 8 we will be working into the back loop only from round 6 (red)

Round 8 – In the BLO, (sc 2, inc) repeat 5x (20)

Flip the brim of the Santa hat downwards after working round 8.

We will join the ears to round 9 using slip stitches

Round 9 – sc 5, attach ear w/ 2 Slst, sc 6, attach ear w 2 Slst, sc 5 (20)

Round 10 – (sc 4, inc) repeat 4x (24)

Round 11 – (sc 5, inc) repeat 4x (28)

Rounds 12-13 – sc around (28) (2 rounds)

Secure the eyes between rounds 10 and 11, about 3 stitches apart. Secure the nose between rounds 11 and 12, centered between the eyes.

Round 14 – (sc 5, dec) repeat 4x (24)

Round 15 – (sc 2, dec) repeat 6x (18)

Round 16 – (sc 1, dec) repeat 6x (12)

Do not stuff the head or hat.

If you would like your mouse to have a sweater, switch to emerald for rounds 21-25.

Round 21 – (sc 2, inc) repeat 6x (24)

In round 22 we’ll attach the arms using slip stitches.

• Note that the arms may appear misaligned due to differences in yarn and tension. If this happens, you can adjust the placement so the arms are centered with your mouse. Slip stitch the arms into the stitch that aligns with the outer ear.

Round 22 – sc 12, Slst 1 to attach arm, sc 9, Slst 1 to attach arm, sc 1 (24)

Rounds 23-25 – sc around (24) (3 rounds)

Slip stitch the tail to the back of the mouse in round 26.

Round 26 – sc 6, attach tail w/ Slst, sc 17. (24)

In round 27 we’ll work the bobble stitches for the feet. Like the arms, the bobbles may appear misaligned. Ensure that the bobble stitches are placed so they align with the inner ear.

Round 27 – sc 14, Bo, Sc 6, Bo, sc 2 (24)

Round 28 – (2 sc, dec) repeat 6x (18)

Begin stuffing firmly

Round 29 – (sc 1, dec) repeat 6x (12)

Round 30 – dec 6x (6)

Tie off and leave a long end for sewing. Sew the bottom of the mouse shut by seaming tightly through each of the 6 remaining stitches.

• Using the main body color and a needle, attach both arms to the peppermint. To secure Its place, sew the back of the peppermint to the stomach of the mouse.
