Materials:

  • 1 Bernat Big Ball Blanket 220yds #6 Super Bulky. The colors I used for both moons are Burnt Mustard and Bright Sage.
  • US size K 6.5 mm crochet hook
  • Poly-fil for stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle to weave in ends

Size (approximate): 15″ tall

Pattern Notes:

  • We’ll be working in continuous rounds. Do not join at the end of your rounds.
  • You can use your choice of yarn and hook size. Just keep in mind that this will change the final size of your pillow.
  • You can reduce rounds for a smaller pillow or add more rounds for a larger pillow. When adding rounds be sure you have the stitch count needed for each round.

Abbreviations (US):

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
inc – increase (work 2 stitches in the same stitch)

To begin Ch 2

Round 1: 10 sc into 2nd chain from the hook (10 sts)

Remember to place your stitch marker in the 1st stitch of each round. This will help you keep track of when you’re starting a new round.

Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (20 sts)

Round 3: *Inc, sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. (30 sts)

Round 4: *Inc, sc in next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (40 sts)

Round 5: *Inc, sc in next 3 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (50 sts)

Round 6: *Inc, sc in next 4 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (60 sts)

Round 7: *Inc, sc in next 5 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (70 sts)

If you notice your circle getting wavy, it’s okay. That’s supposed to happen!

Round 8: *Inc, sc in next 6 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (80 sts)

Round 9: *Inc, sc in next 7 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (90 sts)

Round 10: *Inc, sc in next 8 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (100 sts)

Round 11: *Inc, sc in next 9 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (110 sts)

Round 12: *Inc, sc in next 10 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (120 sts)

Round 13: *Inc, sc in next 11 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (130 sts)

Round 14: Sc around, sl st to first st. Do not fasten off. (130 sts)

Fold your moon in half with the wrong sides facing. Line up your stitches on the outer edge and sc the sides together.

About halfway through begin stuffing your pillow with poly-fil. Continue crocheting your moon together filling with poly-fil as you go. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Feel free to use your hands to gently mold your pillow into your desired shape. That’s it! Enjoy your cute moon pillow!
