So grab your crochet hook and some colorful yarn, and get ready to create a beautiful and unique piece that will become a cherished part of your Easter traditions.

This egg doily is done in filet crochet, basic stitches plus the lacet stitch. Size is approximately 5 x 8" using size 10 crochet cotton and size 1.5mm hook.

Basic filet: ch 3 is counted as the first dc in the row. After, 1 block (bl) over block is dc in 3 dc. Bl over space(sp) is 2dc in space, dc in next dc. Space over bl is ch2, sk2 dc, dc in next. Sp over sp is ch 2, dc in next dc.

Lacet stitch: ch3, skip 2sts or chs, sc in next st. Ch 3, skip 2 sts or chs, dc in next.

To form bar [ba](these are over lacets), ch5, sk lacet, dc in next dc.

To increase at beginning of row: ch6 (plus 3 for each additional bl). dc in 5th ch from hook. Continue.

To increase at end of row: yo, insert hook in same st as last dc. Yo, pull up one loop (this will be base for next stitch), yo and continue your dc. Do 3dc for each addition block needed. It is important to hold the base loop as you continue the stitch and begin the next, to prevent your dc from being too small.
To decrease, sl st across to first bl to be worked.

Instructions: To start, ch22. Dc in 5th ch from hook and in each ch across. Equals 6 blocks. Follow chart, using one colour throughout, or as I did, changing colours before and after solid rows.
I used the fonts on my computer to make the graph, hopefully it's easy enough to follow.
