Crochet Heart and Unicorn Keychain

Materials:

Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in various colors

• Crochet hook size 3.5 mm (E-4)
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Keychain rings
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Safety eyes (for the unicorn)

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• inc: increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
• dec: decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
• sl st: slip stitch

Heart Keychain Instructions:

1. Heart Shape (make 2):

1. Round 1: Start with a magic ring. Ch 1, 6 sc in the ring. Pull the ring tight. (6 sts)
2. Round 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
3. Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc in next st) around. (18 sts)
4. Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc in next st) around.
   (24 sts)
5. Round 5: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc in next st) around.
   (30 sts)
6. Round 6: Sc in each st around. (30 sts)
7. Round 7: (Sc in next 4 sts, inc in next st) around.
   (36 sts)
8. Round 8-9: Sc in each st around. (36 sts)
9. Round 10: (Sc in next 5 sts, inc in next st) around.
   (42 sts)
10. Round 11: Sc in each st around. (42 sts)
11. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

2. Assembling the Heart:

1. Place the two heart shapes together, wrong sides facing each other.
2. Join the yarn at the top and begin single crocheting through both layers around the edge.
3. When you have about 1 inch left, stuff the heart
4. Continue crocheting to close the gap, and sl st to the first sc. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
5. Attach the heart to a keychain ring.

Unicorn Keychain Instructions:

1. Head:

1. Round 1: Start with a magic ring. Ch 1, 6 sc in the ring. Pull the ring tight. (6 sts)
2. Round 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
3. Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc in next st) around. (18 sts)
4. Round 4-8: Sc in each st around. (18 sts)
5. Insert safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6.
6. Round 9: (Sc in next st, dec in next st) around. (12 sts)
7. Round 10: Dec around. (6 sts)
8. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly.

2. Body:

1. Round 1: Start with a magic ring. Ch 1, 6 sc in the ring. Pull the ring tight. (6 sts)

3. Legs (make 4):

4. Ears (make 2):

5. Horn:

1. Ch 5, sl st in the second ch from the hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, de in last ch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

6. Mane and Tail:

1. Cut several strands of yarn in different colors.
2. Attach the strands to the top of the head for the mane and to the back of the body for the tail.

7. Assembly:

1. Sew the head to the body.
2. Attach the legs to the bottom of the body.
3. Sew the ears to the top of the head.
4. Attach the horn to the forehead.
5. Attach the mane and tail as described.
6. Attach the unicorn to a keychain ring.
