​Knit Baby Vest

You’ll need:

150g of thin violet-pink mélange yarn (100% cotton; 165m/50g);

Knitting needles 3,5 and 4;

3 violet buttons.

Size: 6-9 months.

Note: work in 2 threads of yarn.

Used Patterns

Garter stitch: knit;

Main pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple 8 + 7 + 2 selvage sts. Work due to the scheme, on which both RS and WS rows are stated. Repeat 1^st-4^th rows.

Stitches control: main pattern: 24 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Cast on 65 sts with knitting needles 4 and make 4 rows of garter stitch, continue with the main pattern. In 18 cm from the set-up row, bind off 7 sts from both sides for arm-holes = 51 sts. At 29 cm height form the set-up row, bind off all the sts.

Right Front

Cast on 33 sts with knitting needles 4, make 4 rows of garter stitch and continue with the main pattern. In 18 cm from the set-up row, bind off 7 sts from the left side for arm-hole = 26 sts. In 24 cm from the set-up row, bind off 14 sts from the right side for neck-hole and continue making 12 sts of shoulder. In 29 cm from the set-up row, bind off the sts.

Left Front

Make in symmetry to the right front.

Sleeves

Cast on 49 sts with knitting needles 4, make 4 rows of garter stitch and continue with the main pattern. At 3 cm height, bind off 2 x 7 sts in every 2^nd row from both sides and the rest 21 sts. Total height is 5 cm.

Assembly

Make shoulder, side and sleeve seams; sew up the sleeves. Cast on 56 sts along the neck-hole with knitting needles 3,5 make 4 rows of garter stitch and bind off the sts. Cast on 50 sts along the edges of front, including neck-hole plackets with knitting needles 3,5, make 4 rows of garter stitch and bind off all the sts. Make 3 hanging loops on the right front. Sew buttons.
