Cabled Knit Vest

You’ll need:

800g of Mondial Merino Maxi in green color (50% merino wool, 50% acryl; 60m/100g);

Straight knitting needles 8;

Auxiliary needle;

Tapestry needle.

Used Patterns

Double rib: cast on the half of the needed quantity of sts with contrast yarn;

1^st row: with working yarn: * 1 knit st, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd row: * yarn over as knit st, slip 1 st as purls without knitting, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *;

3^rd and all the following rows: * 1 knit st, slip 1 st as purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *, take off the contrast yarn in ready-made detail.

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;

Wrong-side pattern: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit sts;

Cables A and B (18 sts wide): work due to the scheme, 21^st row: repeat the pattern from the 1^st row.

Stitches control: 14 sts x 14,5 rows = 10 х 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 7 sts and make 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 3 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, cast on 2 x 5 sts, 3 x 4 sts in every 2^nd row from both sides and knit them in the following way: 18 sts of stockinette stitch from the right side of the central 7 sts, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 2 sts of stockinette stitch; in symmetry from the left side of the central 7 sts. In 10 rows from the set-up row (after finishing increases) work on 18 sts of stockinette stitch with cable B from the right side of the central 7 sts, and cable A from the left side of the central 7 sts. Knit the rest sts due to the ornament. In 29 cm from the set-up row, increase 1 x 1 st for the arm-holes plackets from both sides and make the last 3 sts from both sides as stockinette stitch. In 29 cm from the beginning of neck-hole, leave the rest 27 sts for each shoulder.

Front

Make in the same way, as back, but replace cables A and B with each other.

Neck-Piece

Cast on 27 sts and make 2 sts of stockinette stitch (inner edge), 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 18 sts of cable A, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 3 sts of double rib. In 85 cm from the set-up row, leave all the sts.

Lower Placket

Cast on 7 sts and work with stockinette stitch. In 96 cm, leave all the sts.

Assembly

Connect the previously left sts of front and back with kitchener stitch. Join the previously left sts of neck-piece with sts of the set-up row, circle the neck-piece in a ring. Sew the inner edge of neck-piece to the neck-hole of front and back. Make side seams. Connect the sts of placket with sts of the set-up row of front and back with Kitchener stitch.
