Straight knitting needles 4 and 4,5;

Circle knitting needles 4.

Cable (14 sts wide): due to the scheme, on which only RS rows are stated, make WS rows due to the ornament, yarn overs – as purls.

Repeat 1st-8th rows.

Stitches control:

Stockinette stitch and wrong-side pattern: 16,5 sts x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Cable – 7 cm wide.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 74 (82) 90 sts and make 6 cm of rib A, increase 10 sts in the last row = 84 (92) 100 sts. Then, work in the following way: 1 selvedge st, 11 (15) 19 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 14 sts of cable, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 16 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 2 sts of stockinette stitch, 14 sts of cable, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 11 (15) 19 sts of stockinette stitch, 1 selvedge st.

In 40 cm = 100 rows (38,5 cm = 96 rows) 37cm = 92 rows from rib A, bind off 3 sts from both sides for arm-holes and 2 x 2 sts, 4 x 1 st in every 2nd row = 62 (70) 78 sts. In 60 cm = 150 rows from rib A, bind off 5 (6) 7 sts from both sides for shoulder chamfers and 3 x 4 (5) 6 sts in every 2nd row. At the same time with the 1st shoulder chamfer decrease, bind off the central 18 sts for neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 3 sts and 1 x 2 sts in every 2nd row from inwards. In 62,5 cm = 156 rows from rib A, bind off all the sts.

Front

Make in the same way, as back, but with polo collar. For this, in 37,5 cm = 94 rows from rib A, make 1 RS row due to the ornament and starting from the next WS row, continue work due to the ornament on the sts from 1st-45th (1st-49th) 1st-53rd the right half of front from WS, increase 3 sts on the inner 6 sts and make these 9 sts as rib B = polo placket. Totally, 48 (52) 56 sts are on the knitting needles. Leave the rest 39 (43) 47 sts of the second half. Make arm-hole from the left side, as for back = 37 (41) 45 sts. In 56 cm = 140 rows from rib A, leave 12 sts from inwards for smooth rounding and bind off 3 x 2 sts and 2 x 1 st in every 2nd row. Make shoulder chamfer from left side in the same way, as for back. Include the previously left 39 (43) 47 sts in work and finish the left half of front in symmetry to the right, cast on 9 sts for the polo placket and knit them with rib B (lower placket).

Assembly

Make shoulder and side seams. Transfer the previously left 12 sts from both sides to the circle knitting needles, cast on 57 sts along the neck-hole between them and make 81 sts of rib B on these sts. At 1 cm height of the collar, work with rib A, double the back 27 sts = 108 sts. At 8 cm height of the collar, bind off all the sts due to the ornament. Cast on 92 (96) 100 sts along the arm-hole edges with circle knitting needles, make 3 cm of rib B, then, bind off all the sts due to the ornament.
