Helga Knit Sweater
You’ll need:
350-400g of 100% cashmere yarn;
Knitting needles 6.
Size: S-M.
Used Patterns
1 x 1 rib;
Cable on 14 sts: due to the scheme.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 74-80 sts and make rib to 10 cm height, then, turn to stockinette stitch. After the 46th row (= 21 cm), bind off 2-3 sts x 1 for the raglan from both sides. Then, decrease 1st x 14-16 in every even row from both sides. Make decreases due to the scheme – in the beginning of row – knit the 4th and 5th sts together, in the end of row knit the 5th and 4th sts from the end as broaching (= slip 1 st as knit st, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st).
After 76 rows (= 34,5 cm) – 80 rows (= 36,5 cm) from the placket, continue work on placket on all 42 sts of the rib. After making 96 rows (43,5 cm) – 100 rows (= 45,5 cm) from the lower placket, bind off all the sts due to the ornament.
Front
Make in the same way, as back.
Sleeves
Cast on 42 sts and make 10 cm of rib. Then, turn to stockinette stitch. Increase 1 st x 5 in every 10th row – 1 st x 8 in every 8th row after the rib. You should get 52-58 sts.
After knitting 56 rows (= 25,5 cm) from the cuff, start making decreases for raglan, as you previously made for back, but knit the 3rd and 4th sts in the beginning of row together, and 4th and 3rd sts from the end of row as broaching.
Make cable on the central 14 sts due to the scheme for raglan chamfers, continue work with stockinette stitch from both sides of it. Increase 4 sts due to the scheme inside the cable, increasing its width to 18 sts.
After knitting 86 rows (= 39 cm) – 90 rows (= 41 cm) from the cuff, continue work on the rest 24 sts of the placket: 1 purl, 1 knit st, 18 sts of cable, 1 knit st, 1 purl.
After making 106 rows (= 48 cm) – 110 rows (= 50 cm) from the cuff, bind off the sts due to the previous row.
Assembly
Sew up side, raglan, placket and sleeve seams.
me
I am puzzled about the chart. There is an icon on row 1 that has no corresponding explanation, and an explanation that I think probably goes with that icon, but looks very different. Am I missing something?
Thanks...Hilary
