Oversized Knit Sweater
You’ll need:
7 (8, 8, 9, 10) skeins of Woolfolk LUFT yarn (55% merino wool, 45% cotton; 100m/50g) for version with pencil edge and 1 skein more for lower edge placket;
Circle knitting needles 6 and 7 mm.
Size: XS, S, M, L, XL;
Chest circumference: 47.5 (50.75, 54.25, 57.75, 61) inches.
Stitches control: 14 sts = 4” of garter stitch, knitting needles 7 mm.
Instructions
Yoke
Cast on 56 (60, 60, 64, 64) sts and place marker in the beginning of row, work with 1 x 1 rib for 10 cm, then, turn to knitting needles 7 mm and continue in the following way: 7 (9, 9, 11, 11) knit sts of right sleeve, place marker, 21 knit sts of front, place marker, 7 (9, 9, 11, 11) knit sts of left sleeve, 21 knit sts of back. Start making partial work, for this, knit the sts of the right sleeve, front and left sleeve, then, start forming back. Knit the sts of back to the last 4 sts before marker, turn, work with purls to the last 4 sts before marker, turn. Then, work with knit sts to the last 2 sts before marker, turn, work with purls to the last 2 sts before marker, turn. Knit to the beginning of circle between right sleeve and front, then, make 1 circle row of knit sts. Form raglan line:
1st rnd: (1 knit st through front and back loops), knit sts to the last 2 sts before marker, increase, 1 knit st;
2nd rnd: knit;
3rd rnd: (knit sts in the sts of sleeve, transfer marker, increase, 1 knit st) x twice;
4th rnd: knit.
Repeat the last 4 rounds, totally, 15 (16, 18, 19, 21) rows, for sizes S and L, make 3rd and 4th rows one more time = 37 (41, 45, 49, 53) sts for sleeves and 81 (87, 93. 99, 105) sts for front/back. Transfer the sts of sleeves to the auxiliary needle in the next row, cast on 1 new st instead them, place marker – side seam.
Main Detail
= 166 (178, 190, 202, 214) sts. For version with pencil edge, continue work with stockinette stitch to 10,5” height for sleeve cuts, bind off the sts. For version with placket, at first, make 6 (6, 6.5, 7, 8)” of stockinette stitch. Then, knit the sts of front and back separately with rib, as for the collar with knitting needles 6 mm, in order to make sides cuts. For front, make 4” of rib on 80 (86, 92, 98, 104) sts, and for the back – 5” on the rest 83 (89, 95, 101, 107) sts. Bind off the sts due to the ornament.
Sleeves
Transfer the previously left sts of sleeves, lift 1 new st along the cut. Make 6” of stockinette stitch around. Turn to knitting needles 6 mm and make 2,5” of 1 x 1 rib, bind off the sts due to the ornament.
