You’ll need:

13 (14) 15 skeins of thick yarn (78% cotton, 22% polyester; 55m/50g);

Knitting needles 10;

Crochet hook 1.

Used Patterns

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit st, in WS row – purl;

Wrong side: in WS row – purl, in WS row – knit st;

Pattern with leaves on 19 sts: due to the scheme 1 (on which only RS rows are stated, make wrong-side rows due to the ornament, yarn overs – as purls). Repeat 1st-12th rows.

Relief pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple of 4 + 3. Work due to the scheme 2 (on which only RS rows are stated, make wrong-side rows due to the ornament, yarn overs – as purls). Start with 1 selvedge st and sts before pattern repeat, pattern repeat. Repeat 1st-4th rows.

Garter stitch: all knit sts;

Pattern with cables (at first, on 2 sts): due to the scheme 3 (on which only RS rows are stated, make wrong-side rows due to the ornament, yarn overs – as purls). The ornament starts in the 5th row. Repeat 5th-38th rows once, make increases due to the scheme, then repeat 29th-38th rows.

Cable of 4 sts:

1st-4th rows: stockinette stitch;

5th row: cross 4 sts to left (= leave 2 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 2 knit sts, 2 sts from the auxiliary needle as knit sts);

6th row: purl.

Repeat 1st-6th rows.

Special decreases: make knit2tog in the set-up row after the selvedge st, make 1 broaching before selvedge st in the end of row.

Stitches control

For back and sleeves:

Stockinette stitch and garter stitch: 12 sts x 17,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Pattern with leaves: 13,5 sts x 17,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Relief pattern: 12 sts x 17,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Cables: 15 sts x 17,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Cable on 4 sts: 3 cm.

For front

Pattern with leaves: 13,5 sts x 15,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Relief pattern: 12 sts x 15,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Size: XS (S) M.

Instructions

Back

Note! This detail is knitted across. The direction of work is stated on the scheme.

Cast on 55 sts and make 1 WS row of purls. This is a set-up row.

Then: 1 selvedge st, 1 st of stockinette stitch, 19 sts of pattern with leaves, start with 1st (3rd) 5th row of pattern, 3 sts of garter stitch (don’t make the selvedge st).

Cast on 2 sts from the set-up row in the end of the 4th row (WS) for raglan chamfers, increase in the end of the next WS row: 9 x 2, 1 x 3 and 0 (1) 2 x 5 sts and start making the cables ornament from the next RS row due to the scheme 3, including the increased sts = 78 (83) 88 sts.

After 24 cm = 42 rows (26,5 cm = 46 rows) 28,5 cm = 50 rows, you’ll get the middle of back. Finish the detail in symmetry = in 34,5 cm = 60 rows (38 cm = 66 rows) 41 cm = 72 rows from the set-up row, bind off 3 (5) 5 sts and in every 2nd row: 10 x 2 sts (1 x 3 and 10 x 2 sts) 1 x 5, 1 x 3 and 10 x 2 sts.

After 48 cm = 64 rows (53 cm = 92 rows) 57 cm = 100 rows, bind off all the 55 sts.

Front

Cast 67 (73) 79 sts with crossed cast on. Continue: selvedge st, 0 (1) 2 sts of wrong side, 19 sts of pattern with leaves, 27 (31) 35 sts of relief pattern, 19 sts of pattern with leaves, 0 (1) 2 sts of wrong side, 1 selvedge st.

After 33,5 cm = 52 rows, bind off 3 sts from both sides for raglan, 2 x 2 sts in every 2nd row and make special decreases of 8 (10) 12 x 1 st. After 47,5 cm = 74 rows (50,5 cm = 78 rows) 53 cm = 82 rows from the set-up row, bind off the last 37 (39) 41 sts for the neck-hole.

Sleeves

Cast on 45 (49) 53 sts with crossed cast on and work: 1 selvedge st, 7 (9) 11 stockinette stitch, 1 st of wrong side, 4 sts of cable, 19 sts of pattern with leaves, 4 sts of cable, 1 st of wrong side, 7 (9) 11 sts of stockinette stitch, 1 selvedge st. After 37,5 cm = 66 rows (34,5 cm = 60 rows), 31 cm = 54 rows, bind off 3 sts from both sides for raglan, then, 4 (5) 6 x 1 st in every 4th row, after that, continue work without decreases.

After 52,5 cm = 92 rows, bind off the last 31 (33) 35 sts (make beforehand: 7 x 2, 1 x 3, 7 x 2 knit 2tog) (selvedge st, 7 x 2, 1 x 3, 7 x 2 sts as knit2tog, selvedge st), 8 x 2, 1 x 3, 8 x 2 sts as knit2tog = 15 (17) 17 sts.

Assembly

Sew raglan, after that, make the same actions for sleeve. Sew the sides. Fasten the neck-hole with 1 row of “shrimp stitch” by means of the crochet hook.
