With color 1 make a chain length in multiples of 2 + 1

First Row – 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1tr into next ch, * 1dc into next ch, 1tr into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
Join in color 2.

Carry previous color with you across the rows by crocheting over it.
Second Row – 1ch, 1sc into base of 1ch, 1tr into next dc, * 1dc into next tr, 1tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
