Knit Poncho with High Collar
You’ll need:
2 skeins of grey (# 20063) Bergere de France Twiste yarn (52% acryl, 48% wool; 80m/50g);
Knitting needles 5,5 and 6,5;
4 buttons.
Used Patterns
3 fancy sts: purl3tog, then, don’t slip sts from LH needle, 1 yarn over, purl3tog, slip 3 sts from LH needle.
1 x 1 rib: * 1 knit st, 1 purl*.
Fancy pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple 4 + 1.
1st row (RS): knit;
2nd row: 3 knit sts, 3 fancy sts, * 1 knit st, 3 fancy sts*; repeat from * to *, 3 knit sts;
3rd row: knit;
4th row: 1 knit st, * 3 fancy sts, 1 knit st*; repeat from * to *.
Repeat 1st-4th rows.
Garter stitch: knit.
Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls.
Special decreases of 2 sts in 1 st distance from edge: 1 knit st, purl3tog, continue knitting the row and when there are 4 sts left on LH needle, purl3tog, 1 knit st.
Stitches control: 20 sts x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 161 sts with knitting needles 5,5. Make 5 cm = 12 rows of 1 x 1 rib. Change to knitting needles 6,5 and continue work with fancy pattern.
Chamfers
Turn from holes for arms and shoulders. In 24 cm = 51 rows after the 3rd row, work with special decrease on WS of work from both sides at 1 st distance from edge, start with the 1st row, then, 27 x 2 sts in every 2nd row.
Collar
Continue work with fancy pattern after the last decrease and continue work with fancy pattern on the rest 53 sts. In 70 cm = 142 rows from the set-up row, bind off all sts as purls on RS.
Front
Make in the same way, as back.
Assembly
Make side seams, leave 10 cm open before and after the beginning of arm-holes. Sew buttons.
