​Melange Knit Jacket

You’ll need:

6 skeins of Cisne Musa yarn (39% acryl, 26% viscose, 18% mohair, 14% wool, 3% polyester; 154m/100g) in 217 color;

Knitting needles 5,5;

6 buttons.

Size: chest circumference: 82-86 cm.

Stitches control: 14 sts x 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm (stockinette stitch).

Used Patterns

3 x 3 rib;

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;

Button-hole: knit2tog, 1 yarn over.

Fancy pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple 7 + 2.

1^st row: * 2 purls, 5 knit sts*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd row: due to the pattern.

Instructions

Back, Sides of Front and Sleeves

Make as one-piece cloth.

Begin with right sleeve: cast on 44 sts and make 8 cm with 3 x 3 rib, start and finish every row with 2 purls. Increase 7 sts in the last row of rib (totally, 51 sts). Continue work with fancy pattern, increase 6 x 1 st in every 8^th row from both sides (totally, 63 sts). At 48 cm height from the set-up row, increase 78 sts from both sides for forming back and right front (totally, 219 sts). Work, divide the sts in the following way: make the first 43 sts due to the scheme, the central 133 sts – with fancy pattern, the last 43 sts – due to the scheme but in reversed order. At 10 cm height from the beginning of back and front, bind off the first 90 sts from the right side (= right front). Continue work on the rest 129 sts. At 30 cm from the beginning of back, increase 90 sts from the right side for forming left front (totally, 219 sts). At 10 cm height from the beginning of left front, bind off 78 sts for back and left front from both sides. Make left sleeve in the same way, as right sleeve on the rest 63 sts. At 48 cm height from the beginning of left sleeve, bind off all the sts.

Inner Parts of Front and Collar

Cast on 32 sts for inner part of right front and right part of collar and work with 3 x 3 rib. At 15 cm, 30 cm and 45 cm height from the set-up row, make button-holes. At 33 cm from the set-up row for forming collar, increase 10 x 1 st in every 6^th row (totally, 42 sts). At 70 cm height from the set-up row, bind off all the sts. Make left front of collar and inner part of left front in symmetry, don’t make button-holes.

Assembly

Make side and sleeve seams. Make back collar seam. Sew collar and inner parts of left and right front to back and sides of back. Sew buttons.
