​Knit Burgundy Vest

You’ll need:

500g of light-burgundy color Mondial Merino Sprint yarn (50% wool, 50% acryl; 190m/100g);

Knitting needles 4 and 4,5;

Auxiliary needle.

Size: S.

Used Patterns

Double rib: cast on the half of the needed quantity of sts with contrast yarn;

1^st row: main yarn: * 1 knit st, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd row: * yarn over as knit st, slip 1 st as purl without knitting, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *;

3^rd and last rows: * 1 knit st, slip 1 st as purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *, take off the contrast yarn.

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;

Wrong-side: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit sts;

2 x 2 rib;

Cable (8 sts wide): 1^st, 3^rd, 5^th, 7^th rows: knit;

2^nd and all the even rows: purl;

9^th row: cross 8 sts to the left (leave 4 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 4 knit sts, 4 knit sts from the auxiliary needle).

Repeat 1^st-10^th rows.

Stitches control, alternation of 8 sts of stockinette stitch and 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, knitting needles 4,5: 18 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 82 sts with knitting needles 4 and make 6 rows with double rib and 56 rows with 2 x 2 rib, start and finish with 2 purls. In the next row (RS) make the holes in the following way: 2 purls, 2 knit sts, 1 yarn over, purl2tog, * 2 knit sts, 2 purls, 2 knit sts, 1 yarn over, purl2tog*; repeat from * to * x 8 times, 2 knit sts, 2 purls. Next row (WS): 2 knit sts, * 2 purls, 2 knit sts*; repeat from * to * to the end of row. Make 2 rows of 2 x 2 rib (totally, 2 cm from the row with holes), then, turn to knitting needles 4,5 and knit in the following way: 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 8sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 8sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern*; repeat from * to * x 3 times, 8 sts of cable, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern, 8 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of wrong-side pattern. In 50 cm from 2 x 2 rob, bind off 23 sts for each shoulder and 36 sts for neck-hole.

Front

Make in the same way, as back, but in 24 cm from 2 x 2 rib, bind off the central 32 sts for the neck-hole and finish both sides separately, bind off 2 x 1 st in every 14^th row from both sides of the center. In 26 cm from the beginning of neck-hole, bind off the rest 23 sts for each shoulder.

Arm-Hole Placket

Cast on 100 sts with knitting needles 4 and make 14 rows with 2 x 2 rib, start with 1 purl and 2 knit sts and finish with 2 knit sts and 1 purl, then, 6 rows of double rib and bind off all the sts.

Left Half of Collar

Cast on 18 sts with knitting needles 4 and work with 2 x 2 rib, start with 2 knit sts, cast in 5 x 4 sts and 18 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row from the left side; include the increased sts in the pattern. In 18 cm from the set-up row, make 6 rows of double rib and bind off all the sts.

Right Half of Collar

Make in symmetry to the left half.

Belt

Cast on 4 sts with short knitting needles and make 1 row of knit sts. When all the sts are on the RH needle, move them to the further end of needle, don’t turn, take the RH needle in the left hand, yarn behind work and make the next row with knit sts from right to left. Continue work in the same way, in 150 cm from the set-up row, bind off all the sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. Make side seams, don’t sew the upper seams (from shoulder seam) on 20 cm for arm-holes. Sew the arm-holes plackets in the ring and sew them to the arm-holes. Sew both halves of collar together and sew it to the neck-hole. Insert the belt in the special holes.
