JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Rnd 3: Ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch 2), skip next ch, dc in next (center) ch, ch 2, [dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch, dc in next ch, ch 2] twice, [dc in next dc, ch 2] 3 times, [skip next ch, dc in next ch, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2] 4 times, [dc in next dc, ch 2] twice, skip next ch, dc in next ch, ch 2; join with sl st to first dc.
