The quantity of sts is multipled 5 sts + 2 sts for the symmetry + 2 selvedge sts.

1st row (wrong-side): 1 selvedge st, * 2 knit sts, 3 purls*, 2 knit sts, 1 selvedge st; repeat from * to * to end of row;

2nd row (right-side): 1 selvedge st, * 2 purls, 2 knit sts, slip 1 st without knitting, yarn behind work*, 2 purls, 1 selvedge st; repeat from * to * to end of row;

3rd row: 1 selvedge st, * 2 knit sts, slip 1 st as purl, yarn in front of work, 2 purls*, 2 knit sts, 1 selvedge st; repeat from * to * to end of row;

4th row: as 2nd row;

5th row: as 3rd row;

6th row: 1 selvedge st, 2 purls, skip 2 sts and make 3rd st as knit st, 2 knit sts, slip sts from the left-hand needle*, 2 purls, 1 selvedge st; repeat from * to * to end of row.
