Crochet Curlicue Wreath Ornament

The Crochet Curlicue Wreath Ornament is a delightful and charming addition to your holiday decor! This beautiful handmade ornament features intricate crochet work that creates elegant curlicue patterns, adding a unique and festive touch to your home. Hang it on your Christmas tree, use it as a gift topper, or adorn your mantel with its cheerful presence. One of the best things about this ornament is that you can customize it with different colors to match your decor or create a personalized gift for loved ones. Spread some holiday cheer with this whimsical Crochet Curlicue Wreath Ornament that will surely bring a smile to everyone who sees it!

Materials:

  • H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Worsted weight #4 acrylic yarn in two shades of green, I used less than an ounce for each curlicue. (Yarn shown is Loops & Threads Impeccable in “Kelly Green” and “Guacamole”
  • Yarn/tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape
  • Hot glue/craft glue
  • Optional embellishments: ribbon, bells, glittery pom poms, pre-made bows, and other festive small items you can glue on to the wreath.

Sizing:

  • Wreath is about 4 inches tall

Pattern Notes:

  • Try experimenting with different yarn colors when you crochet the curlicues for a variety of looks, for example red and green, or green and white too!
  • You can get really creative with the embellishments on your wreath, see materials list above for ideas.
  • Can’t make a bow? No worries! Premade bows can be found in craft stores, sewing isles, etc.
  • This pattern can also be slipped over a door knob (it fits, I tried it!) to dress up a door too.

Crochet Curlicue Wreath Ornament Pattern:

  • Chain 45
  • Work 3 hdc into the third chain from the hook.
  • Work 3 hdc into each chain across.
  • Fasten off and set aside.
  • Make a second curlicue the same way and move on to the next section for assembly.
  • Note: sometimes when making a crochet curlicue it can get a little twisted up as you work. You may need to straighten it out and “recoil” it before you move on.

Finishing & Assembly:

  • Line up the two curlicues starting with the sides where the ends are and coil them together
  • Wrap them into a circle and seam the ends together.
  • Use one of the tails to make a hanging loop. Wrap the tail into a loop then knot to secure.
  • Weave the rest of the tails in.
  • If you like, you can glue various decorative items to the wreath. I made a simple red satin bow with a shiny gold bell glued to the center. Try a variety of embellishments (see materials list above for ideas) for lots of festive looks!
  • Let all glue cool/dry completely before using.
  • Happy holiday crocheting!
