  • Ch 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
  • The washcloth can be made with a border or without a border. Both options are explained in the pattern. The crab stitch border is made by making a reverse single crochet. So instead of working right to left. You will be working left to right. The picot stitch border is worked as normal, right to left.
  • The washcloth is made in the color Swan and the border is made in the color Inlet.
  • Total stitches for row are indicated between ( ).

Pattern

With WeCrochet Dishie color Swan, chain 36.

Row 1: In second ch from hook, make (1sc,1dc) in same chain. Skip next ch, *(1sc,1dc) in next ch, skip 1 ch. Repeat from * till last two ch. skip next ch, sc in last ch. Turn. (35)

Row 2: ch 1, (1sc, 1dc) in first stitch, skip next st. *(1sc,1dc) in following st, skip next st. Repeat from * till last two st. skip next st, sc in last st. Turn. (35)

Row 3 – Row 26: Repeat row 2. (35)

Finish off and work in tail ends.

Now follow the directions down below for either the Crab Stitch Border or the Picot Edge Border.

Crab Stitch Border

Reattach the second color (WeCrochet Dishie color Inlet) to the last stitch of your last row and chain 1.

Insert your hook back into the last stitch, *yarn over, pull through (2 loops left on hook), yarn over, and pull through last 2 loops. Insert your hook into the next stitch and repeat the sequence from * in each stitch around the washcloth.

Once you have finished your last stitch, slip stitch to the first stitch.

Finish off and work in tail ends.

(note – you’re working left to right)

Picot Edge Border

Reattach the second color (WeCrochet Dishie color Inlet) to the last stitch of your last row and chain 1. Then make 1 single crochet in that same stitch and make 1 single crochet in the following stitch. Chain 3 and make a slip stitch in the top front loop of your single crochet stitch.

Now you will repeat that sequence all the way around your washcloth. So you will make 2 single crochets, chain 3, and slip stitch to the top front loop of your single crochet stitch.

Once you have made your last stitch (single crochet), you’ll want to work one more single crochet in the first stitch where you added your new color. Chain 3 and slip stitch to the top front loop of your single crochet stitch, then slip stitch to the following stitch to finish your work.

Then work in your remaining tail ends.
