Materials Needed
- 4 balls of medium-weight yarn in varying shades of brown
- 3.0 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Tapestry needle
- Optional: Tailor's size chart or sizing guide
Swatch & Sizing Prep
Create a swatch using the granny stitch to check tension.
Adjust hook size to get a dense, closed texture—3.0 mm recommended.
Use hip measurements for a medium size (consult chart or tailor).
Divide hip measurement by two to determine panel width.
Chain 85 to begin based on swatch calculations.
Front Panel
Work rows of granny stitch using doubled strands of yarn.
Alternate yarn shades as desired for color variation.
No increases or decreases—straight rows only.
Continue until desired panel height is reached.
Back Panel
Follow the same process as the front panel.
At five rows from the end, begin increasing at the middle stitch in each row.
This creates extra room for folding and fit.
Joining Panels
Use a 4-inch chain to connect the front and back at the crotch area.
Join both panels together along the sides using slip stitch or single crochet.
Leg Rounds
Begin working in the round from the crotch area down.
Continue in granny stitch pattern, matching the panel texture.
Make sure both legs are even in length.
Ribbing and Waistband
Add ribbing at the leg openings for a snug fit.
For waistband:
Slightly decrease stitches to taper inward.
Use a ribbed pattern (e.g., FPDC/BPDC or SC ribbing).
Crochet and attach drawstring ropes to finish.
