What You Will Need

4 - medium (worsted, Afgan, Aran, 10 ply) weight yarn, about 273 yards (250 meters) any color
Hook
8 mm (L-11) crochet hook or size to obtain a gauge.

Yarn needle

Gauge
10 half double crochets and 9 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm) using a 8 mm hook.

Finished Size
About 64 inches (1.62 meters) in circumference and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide.

chain = ch
hdc - half double crochet
hdc-blo - half double crochet back of the loop
hk - hook
st - stitch

Instructions:

Foundation - Chain 150
Row 1 - Hdc in 2nd ch from hk, hdc in each st across, turn. 148 hdc
Row 2 - Ch1, hdc-blo in 1st st, hdc-blo in each st across, turn. 148 hdc
Rows 3 - 13 - repeat row 2.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the ends together.

Finish - Use a darning needle, thread the tail yarn through, and join the two short ends together, lining up the rows.

Note: when joining the scarf ends make sure that the scarf lays as one flat piece and is not twisted.
