  • 3mm & 4mm crochet hook
  • DK weight yarn
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle
  • 10mm Safety eyes

Yarn

  • Weight – DK / Light Worsted/ #3
  • Brand – Style craft Squeeze Me DK
  • A – Brown
  • B – White
  • C – Almond
  • D – Green
  • E – Red
  • Total: 22 yards

Gauge

  • 3mm hook: 2″ x 2″ swatch = 10 rows of 10 sc
  • 4mm hook: 2″ x 2″ swatch = 4 rows of 7 dc

Finished Size

  • Height 5cm x Length 6.5cm

Pattern Notes

  • Chains and finishing slip stitches are not included in the stitch count
  • The last numbers in brackets are the total number of stitches in the round
  • Stitches separated with a comma are to be made in separate spaces. eg. (sc, 2sc) would mean sc in first stitch then 2sc in next stitch
  • Change colour while completing the previous stitch.
  • Always start in same stitch as slip stitch
  • If you have trouble using the MR with fluffy yarn, try making a separate MR with acrylic yarn.

Cake:

Row 1

  • Use a 4mm hook & Brown (A) yarn
  • ch x 19 then start in third ch from hook
  • dc x 17
  • ch x 2 & turn
  • (17 sts)

Round 2 – 5

  • dc x 17
  • ch x 2 & turn (Fasten off after R5)
  • (4 rows of 17 sts)

Eyes

  • Attach safety eyes to the 6th st on R2 & R4
  • Sew White (B) yarn around the outside half of the eyes

Face

  • Using Almond (C) yarn, sew a mouth over the 4th st on R3
  • Using Almond (C) yarn, sew 3 freckles either side of the mouth

Cream Filling:

Row 1

  • Use a 4mm hook & White (B) yarn
  • ch x 11 then start in third ch from hook
  • dc x 9
  • ch x 2 & turn
  • (9 sts)

Round 2 – 5

  • dc x 9
  • ch x 2 & turn (Fasten off after R5)
  • (4 rows of 9 sts)

Assembly

  • Place the cream filling at the center of the cake, wrong sides facing
  • Using White (B) yarn, sew together while making sugar sprinkles above the face on the cake
  • Roll up starting from the end without a face
  • Sew into position with Brown (A) yarn
  • Use Almond (C) yarn and sew a hanging loop to the top middle of the log

Cherry

Round 1

  • Use a 3mm hook & Red (E) yarn
  • In a MR, ch x 1, sc x 8
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1
  • (8 sts)

Round 2

  • sc x 8
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1
  • (8 sts)

Round 3

  • sc2tog x 4
  • sl st to first st & fasten off
  • (4 sts)

Leaves

Row 1

  • Use a 3mm hook & Green (D) yarn
  • ch x 15 then start in second ch from hook
  • (sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st) 2 times
  • Fasten off, bend into a right angle, and sew the cherry to the center
  • Sew the cherry and leaves to the log, next to the hanging loop
