Dk weight yarn in red, white and blue
3.5mm crochet hook
Wool needle
Toy stuffing
Stitches and Abbreviations (UK)
Ch - chain
Sl st –slip stitch
dc – double crochet
Bauble
Starting in your choice of main colour
Make a magic ring and work 6dc into the ring. Six sts
Rnd 1: 2dc into each st to the end. 12sts
Rnd 2: (dc in the first st, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 18sts
Rnd 3: (dc in the first two sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 24sts
Rnd 4: (dc in the first three sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 30sts
Rnd 5: (dc in the first five sts, 2dc in the next st) repeat to end. 36sts
Rnd 6: dc in each st to the end. 36 sts change to white yarn at the end of this round
Rnd 7: dc in each st to the end. 36 sts
On the next round you create the pattern by changing colour from white to the contrast colour every stitch.
Rnd 8: working one st white one st contrast colour, dc in each st to the end. 36 sts continue in contrast colour only
Rnd 9-10: dc in each st to the end. 36 sts
Rnd 11: work as round 8. 36sts continue in white only
Rnd 12: dc in each st to the end. 36sts change to red yarn at the end of this round
Rnd 13: dc in each st to the end. 36sts
Round 15: (dc2tog, dc in the next five sts) repeat to end. 36sts
Round 16: (dc2tog, dc in the next four sts) repeat to end. 30sts
Round 17: (dc2tog, dc in the next three sts) repeat to end. 24sts
Round 18: (dc2tog, dc in the next two sts) repeat to end. 18sts
Round 19: (dc2tog, dc in the next st) repeat to end. 12 sts *stuff now*
Round 20: (dc2tog) repeat to end. 6sts
Fasten off and sew closed the gap at the base of the bauble.
Sew a hanging loop to the top of the bauble to finish.
