Crochet Bow Headband

A small amount of dk / weight 3 yarn

4 mm hook I use this set from Amazon*

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK

sc = single crochet (double crochet in UK)

hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)

ch = chain

slst = slip stitch

[ ] =in the same space

* * =repeat between

Gauge

With 4mm hook

Row 1: Ch11, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn

Row 2-5: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc 8. (9) Turn

Square should measure 5 x 5cm / 2“ x 2”.

The headband can be made with more or less stitches to get the rightsize that you are making.

These are the approximate measurements the finished headband when slightly stretched should be:

Newborn 12”

0-3 Months 14”

3-6 Months 15”

6-12 Months 16”

1-2 Years 17“

3-4 Years 18”

Headband

chain 45 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 slst to the first to form a circle.

Round 1: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc in each chain to the end, slst to first.

Round 2-3: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc in each stitch to the end, slst to first.

For Newborn and 0-3 months fasten off after 2 rounds

Bow

Newborn / 0-3 months / 3-6 months

Row 1: chain 16, hdc in the third chain from hook, hdc to the end, slst to first. (14) Turn

Row 2-4: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to the end. (14) Turn

Row 5: ch1, sc in the same, *ch1, sc* repeat, working all the way around, slst to first.

Centre tie

ch10, hdc in the third chain from hook, hdc 7. (8)

Fasten off and sew around the centre to make a bow, then sew onto the headband.

Bow

6-12 months / 1-4 years

Row 1: chain 20, hdc in the third chain from hook, hdc to the end, slst to first. (18) Turn

Row 2-5: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc to the end. (18) Turn

Row 6: ch1, sc in the same, *ch1, sc* repeat, working all the way around, slst to first.

Centre tie

ch12, hdc in the third chain from hook, hdc 9. (10)

Fasten off and sew around the centre to make a bow, then sew onto the headband.
