. Fasten off , weave loose ends into your work and cut off any extra yarn.

Assemble the Stocking:

  • Line up two squares on top of each other with right sides facing each other. Whip stitch one of the sides together. Open up (unfold) the two squares. Join a third square to the first two in the same way so that you have 3 squares in a straight line.
  • Repeat this process with three of the other squares so that you have two straight lines made up of 3 squares each.
  • Lay both of the joined sets of granny squares vertically on your work surface face up.
  • Place one of the remaining squares on top of the bottom most square with right sides facing each other.
  • Whip stitch the right side of one of the sets of granny squares and whip stitch the left side of the other set. Unfold so that you have an L shape and a backwards L shape. It is very important that one piece be the mirror image of the other instead of being identical so when you join the front and back both right sides will be facing out.
  • Trace one of the crochet stocking pieces onto a double layer of felt. Place the crochet pieces aside while you make the liner.
  • Cut out the stocking pieces from the felt. Pin the two layers together and either hand or machine stitch the two felt stocking pieces together leaving the top unstitched. Place the liner aside.
  • Place the two crochet stocking pieces one on top of the other with right sides facing outward.
  • Using red yarn, whip stitch the two stocking pieces together leaving the top opened.
  • Slip the felt lining inside the crochet stocking.
  • Hand stitch the liner to the inside of the stocking. The liner should be slightly shorter than the stocking.

Make a hanger:

  • Ch 20; turn; dc in each ch, fasten off.

Fold the hanger in half an stitch it to the inside top corner of the stocking.
