Materials Needed: one ball of main color (MC) one ball of contrast color (CC) worsted weight cotton yarn, size H hook, button

Special Stitches: dec hdc- YO insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, insert hook in next st pull up a loop, YO and pull hook through all 4 loops on hook Directions:ch 43

Row 1 - with MC, dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 3 turn (42 total)

Row 2 - 4 - *sk a st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st ,(this is called a cross stitch) repeat from * across (20 cross stitches total) dc in last st, ch 3 turn

Row 5 - *sk a st ,dc in next st, dc in skipped st ,(this is called a cross stitch) repeat from * across (20 cross stitches total) , dc in last st, fasten off MC

Row 6 - attach CC with a sl st in the top of last st worked on previous row, ch 3, dc in each st across, (42 including beg ch 3) ch 3 turn

Row 7 - dc in each st across, (42 including beg ch 3) ch 3 turn

Row 8 - dc in each st across, (42 including beg ch 3) Fasten off (CC)

Row 9- Join MC with a sl st in last stitch worked on previous row, ch 3 *sk a st dc in next st, dc in skipped st ,(this is called a cross stitch) repeat from * across (20 cross stitches total) dc in last st, ch 3 turn

Row 10-20 *sk a st dc in next st, dc in skipped st ,(this is called a cross stitch) repeat from * across (20 cross stitches total) dc in last st, ch 3 turn

Row 21- *sk a st dc in next st, dc in skipped st ,(this is called a cross stitch) repeat from * across (20 cross stitches total) dc in last st, ch 1 turn

Row 22 - sc in each st across (42 total). Fasten off MC

Row 23- Attach CC with a sl st, ch 2, work dec hdc across (21 decreases) ch 2 turn

Row 24 - hdc in each st across (23 hdc including beg ch 2) ch 2 turn

Row 25 - work dec hdc across ( 11 decreases, 12 hdc total) ch 2 turn

Row 26 - hdc in each st across (12 total inc beg ch 2) ch 2 turn

Row 27 - *dec hdc, hdc in next st, repeat from * 3 times, dec hdc (8 sts total), ch 2 turn

Row 28- 39- hdc in each st across, ( 8 hdc including beg ch 2) ch 2 turn

Row 40 - hdc in next 3 sts, ch 4, hdc in last 4 sts. Fasten off

Finishing: Sew button to the middle of row 26
