Crochet Suzette Stitch Dishcloth

Create a beautiful dishcloth using the Suzette stitch crochet technique. This stitch creates a lovely textured pattern that is perfect for dishcloths as it provides both functionality and aesthetic appeal. By using this stitch, you can make a durable and absorbent dishcloth that will add a touch of handmade charm to your kitchen.
Materials:
- I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
- 90 yards of medium/#4 weight cotton yarn (I used half of a ball of Pima Cotton by Lion Brand Yarn for each dishcloth)
- Yarn/tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Measuring Tape
Sizing:
- 8 inches wide
- 8 inches tall
Pattern Notes:
- Stitch multiple is any even number.
- To change the width, simply adjust the multiple of your starting chain.
- To change the height, work more/less rows.
Suzette Stitch Crochet Dishcloth Pattern:
- Ch 26 (any even multiple will work)
Row 1: Work (1 sc, 1 dc) in the second chain from the hook. *Skip a chain, then work (1 sc, 1 dc) into the next chain. Repeat from * across until two chains remain. Skip the next chain, then work a sc into the last chain.
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. *Work (1 sc, 1 dc) into the first stitch (located in the center of the little “cluster” of stitches from the previous row). Repeat from * across into each stitch. Work a sc into the last stitch of the row.
Repeat row 2 until your dishcloth measures about 8 inches tall (or desired height) from the starting edge.
Hanging Loop:
- Chain 10, then work a slip stitch at the base of the chains to create the loop.
- Note: if you need to flip it over to see where to insert the hook, you can try that too. It won’t affect the appearance of the loop.
Finishing:
- Weave in any ends that remain.
