Materials:

150 Yards of Cotton Yarn, I used Peaches & Cream in Panorama for the solid cream dishcloth and Lily Cream & Sugar in Blue Jean trimmed with the Panorama

Hook G

Size:

9 1/2 x 9 1/2

Stitches:

*Please note that your fans and clusters have specific instructions

  • Ch – Chain
  • St – Stitch
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • Beg 1/2 Fpcl – Beginning 1/2 Front Post Cluster: *Yo, pull up loop around dc, yo, draw thru 2 loops*, Repeat *to* in 3 more times, yo, draw thru all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 to close
  • Fpdc cl– Front Post Double Crochet Cluster: *Yo, pull up loop around dc post, yo, draw through 2 loops*, Repeat *to* 3 more times(you should have 5 loops on hook), sk sc, Repeat *to* 4 more times(9 loops on hook now), yo, draw thru 9 loops, ch 1 to close
  • 8 Dc Fan Group: 4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc in designated sp/st

Instructions:

Ch 34

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 33 sc

Rows 2-4, see photo below for guidance

Row 2: Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), turn, 4 dc in next st, *sk 2 sts, sc in next st, sk 2 sts, 8 dc fan in next st*, repeat *to* 3 more times, sk 2 sts, sc in next st, sk 2 sts, 4 dc in next st, dc in last st. = 2-4 dc groups, 2 dc & 4 – 8 dc fans.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in st, *ch 3, Fpdc cl across next 8 dc’s, ch 3, sc in ch 1 sp below of previous row*, repeat *to* 4 more times ending with the sc in the last st(top of ch 3). = 6 sc, 5 fpdc cl & 10 ch 3’s *don’t miss making your ch 3’s, *You can see the pics above of the front and back of this row

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in st, *8 dc fan in center of ch 1 from previous row, sc in next sc*, repeat *to* 4 more times ending with the sc in the last st. = 6 sc, & 5 8dc fans

Row 5: Ch 3, turn, make beg 1/2 Fpdc cl, *ch 3, sc in ch 1 sp of previous row, ch 3, fpdc cl over next 8 dc’s*, repeat *to* 3 more times, ch 3, sc in ch 1 sp, make a beg 1/2 fpdc cl, dc in last st. =2 dc, 5 sc, 2 beg 1/2 fpdc cl & 4 – fpdc cl

Row 6: Ch 3, turn, 4 dc in ch 1 sp of previous row’s cluster, *sc in next sc, 8 dc fan in next ch 1 sp*, repeat *to* 3 more times, sc in next ch 1 sp, 4 dc in next st, dc in last st. = 2 dc, 2 – 4dc fans & 4 – 8dc fans

Rows 7-17: repeat rows 3-6 ending with the row 5 as last row

Edging

Row 18: Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in st, sc in each ch1 sp, 2 sc in each ch 3sp and each sc across to last st, 3 sc in last st, (37sc at this point makes 31 between each corner), evenly sc 31 sts down the side rows to the bottom or row 1, 3 sc in 1 st of bottom row 1, sc in next 31 sts, 3 sc in last st of row 1, sc 31 sts evenly up side rows, join with sl st to 1 sc. = 105 sc

Row 19: Ch 1, sc in st, *3 sc in next st, sc in next 33 sts*, repeat *to* 2 more times, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 32 sts. Join with sl st to 1 sc. = 113 sc

Row 20: Ch 1, sc in 1st 2 sts, *3sc in next st, sc in next 35 sts*, repeat *to* 2 more times, 3 sc in next st, sc in last 33 sts, join with sl st to 1st sc. = 121 sc

That’s it!!! You now have a Bavarian Stitch Dishcloth!
