Crochet Comfy Slippers

Materials:
- 3 oz. 4-ply worsted weight acrylic (these slippers were crocheted with Bernat 'winter sky')
- small amount contrasting color 4-ply worsted weight acrylic
- J hook
Size: these are a size 7 - to make smaller or larger: leave off or add dc rows on the back foot part before Row 21 - then work Row 21 as the last row.
Notes:
- I crochet tight, so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook
- the ch 2 at the beginning of Rnds 1 through 11 do not count as a stitch
Directions:
Rnd 1: Ch 3, work 12 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook. Join with a sl st to 1st dc. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same dc as joining st, dc in next dc. *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before. (18 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in same dc as joining st, dc in next 2 dc. *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
Rnd 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in same dc as joining st, dc in next 3 dc. *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
Rnds 5 - 11: Ch 2, dc in same dc as joining st, dc in each dc around. Join as before.
Row 12: Ch 3, dc in next 21 dc. Turn. (22 dc)
Rows 13 - 20: Ch 3, dc in each dc across. Turn.
Row 21: Ch 3, dc in next 7 dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next 4 dc, hdc in next dc, dc in last 8 dc. End off leaving a long tail.
Fold last row in half and matching stitches, whipstitch together.
With a contrasting color: make a chain about 23" long - start in the front of the slipper and weave through the dc stitches, then weave through the dc's and ch 3's around the ankle of the slipper. Put slipper on - pull a little tight - tie into a bow.
