Materials:

  • P (10.0 mm) crochet hook
  • 312 yards of super bulky #6 weight yarn (I used 6 balls of Chill by Sugar Bush Yarns in “Gray River”)
  • Yarn/tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape

Sizing:

  • 12 inches wide
  • 72 inches long
  • Tassels add 4 inches to either side for a total of 80 inches long

Pattern Notes:

  • Easily change the scarf width by adjusting the multiple of the starting chain (see below for multiple)
  • Change the length of the scarf by working more rows or making the tassels longer/shorter.

Peaceful Day Crochet Scarf Pattern:

  • Ch 31 (Multiple of 12+7)
  • Row 1: Sc in the 11th ch from the hook, *ch 5, skip 3 ch, 1 sc in the next ch, repeat from * turn.
  • Row 2: Ch 5, skip first sc, 1 sc in ch 5 sp, *skip 1 sc, 7 dc in next ch 5 sp, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in next ch 5 sp, ch 5, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in next ch 5 sp, repeat from * to sc in last ch sp, ch 2, 1 dc in 6th ch from last sc of previous row, turn.
  • Row 3: Ch 6, skip (1 dc, 2 ch, 1 sc, 1 dc), *1 sc in next dc (second dc of 7 dc), ch 5, skip 3 dc, 1 sc in next dc (6th dc of 7 dc), ch 5, then work a sc in the ch 5 sp, ch 5 then repeat from * ending with 1 sc, turn.
  • Repeat rows 2 and 3 until 72 inches long, ending on row 2.

Finishing & Assembly:

  • To make a tassel, cut two pieces of yarn each about 12 inches long.
  • Wrap yarn around all 4 fingers 10 times.
  • Tie yarn at the top of the bundle, then tie the second piece of yarn around the top 1/4 of the bundle.
  • Weave in the ends on the side, but use the ends at the top to attach it to the runner.
  • Tie tassels onto either end using these top ends. Weave in ends that remain and trim straight across the bottom to neaten the tassel up.
