700 (800-850)g of dark-blue yarn (45% cotton, 35% sheep wool, 20% silk; 130m/50g);
Knitting needles 4 and 4,5;
Circle knitting needles 4 (40 cm long).
Size: M (XXL-XXXL).
Used Patterns
2 x 2 rib;
Aran pattern: duetothescheme. Repeat the pattern of 30 sts, divide the sts due to the instruction. Repeat 1st-40th rows.
Stitches control: 30 sts x 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm with aran pattern and knitting needles 4,5.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 142 (174-202) sts with knitting needles 4 and make 7 cm = 21 rows of rib for the lower placket, start with WS row and 1 purl after the selvedge st.
Then, work with aran pattern and knitting needles 4,5, for sizes M and XXXL, make 1 cross knit st out of broaching in the 1st row from both sides from the central 12 sts = 144 (174-204) sts and divide the sts in the following way: 1 selvedge st, 11 sts before right double arrow, repeat the pattern of 30 sts x 4 (5-6) times between the double arrows and finish with 11 sts after the left double arrow, 1 selvedge st.
In 32,5 (30,5-28,5) cm = 94 (88-82) rows from the lower placket, bind off 1 x 4 sts from both sides for arm-holes, then 1 x 3 sts in every 2nd row, 1 x 2 sts and 2 x 1 sts = 122 (152-182) sts.
At 23,5 (25,5 – 27,5) cm = 68 (74-80 rows) height of the arm-hole, bind off 1 x 8 (11-14) sts for shoulder chamfers, then, 2 x 7 (10-13) sts in every 2nd row and 1 x 8 (11-14) sts. At the same time, as the 1st decrease for shoulder chamfer, leave the central 56 (62-68) sts for the neck-hole and finish the right side at first.
For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 2 sts in every 2nd row from inner edge, 1 x 1 st. Finish another side in symmetry.
Front
Make in the same way, as back, but with deeper neck-hole. For this, leave the central 44 (50-56) sts at arm-hole height 17,5 (19,5-21,5) cm = 50 (56-62) rows, for smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 3 sts in every 2nd row, 1 x 2 sts, 2 x 1 st and 2 x 1 st in every 4th row.
Sleeves
Cast on 74 (82-86) sts with knitting needles 4 and make 7 cm = 21 rows with rib for the placket, start with WS row, then 1 purl after the selvedge st.
Then, continue work with aran pattern and knitting needles 4,5, for sizes M and XXXL, make 1 cross knit st out of broaching in the 1st row from both sides = 76 (82-88) sts and divide the sts in the following way: 1 selvedge st, 22 (25-28) sts from the arrow a (c-e) to the left double arrow, repeat the pattern of 30 sts between double arrows once, finish with 22 (25-28) sts from the right double arrow to arrow b (d-f), 1 selvedge st.
Note: for size M, make the first 2 sts after arrow a and the last 2 sts before arrow b as purls instead of knit sts.
Increase 1 x 1 st in the 5th (3rd-3rd) rows from the placket from both sides for the chamfers, then, 7 (2-0) times x 1 st in every 6th row, 18 (26-29) times x 1 st in every 4th row, 0 (0-1) times x 1 st in every 2nd row = 128 (140-150) sts. Include the increased sts into aran pattern.
In 42,5 cm = 124 rows from the placket, bind off 1 x 4 sts from both sides of the placket, then, 1 x 3 sts in every 2nd row, 13 x 1 st, 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 5 sts, 1 x 7 sts.
In 12,5 cm = 36 rows, bind off the rest 58 (70-80) sts.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams.
Transfer the left 56 (62-68) stsof back neck-hole on the circle knitting needles, cast on 20 sts along the left side of the neck-hole line, make rib on the left 44 (50-56) sts of the front neck-hole, start with 1 (2-1) knit sts and cast on 20 sts along the right side of neck-hole = 140 (152-164) sts.
For trim, make 3,5 cm = 13 circle rows with rib, start every row with 1 knit st (2 purls – 1 knit st). Bind off the sts loosely due to the ornament.
Make side and sleeve seams, sew the sleeves.
