Light Summer Hat
You’ll need:
1 skein of 100% cotton (130m/50g);
Circle knitting needles 3,75 (40 cm long) and 6 (60 cm long);
Knitting needles 6;
Stitch markers.
Stitches control: 4 sts = 2,5 cm of stockinette stitch with knitting needles 6.
Used Patterns
Decrease 2 sts (double decrease) = slip knit2tog, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st.
Relief pattern:
1st row: * knit sts to the 1st marker, double decrease*; repeat from * to * x 5 times around, then, to the end of row = 84 sts;
2nd row: knit sts;
3rd row: as 1st row = 72 sts;
4th row: knit sts;
5th row: as 1st row = 60 sts;
6th row: knit sts;
7th row: * (yarn over, 1 knit st) to the 1st st marker, yarn over, double decrease*; repeat from * to * x 5 times around, then, (yarn over, 1 knit st) x 4 times = 96 sts;
8th row: knit.
Instructions
Cast on 96 sts with knitting needles 3,75, place marker in the beginning and circle the sts in a ring, make 8 cm of 2 x 2 rib. Turn to knitting needles 6: 8 knit sts, * 1 knit st, place marker, 15 knit sts*; repeat from * to * x 4 times around, 1 knit st, place marker, 8 knit sts, (7 sts before the 1st marker in the last row).
Then, repeat 1st-8th rows of the relief pattern x 4 times, then, repeat 1st-6th rows. Continue work, decreasing sts (turn to straight knitting needles):
1st row: as the 1st row of the relief pattern = 48 sts;
2nd row: knit;
3rd row: as the 1st row of the relief pattern = 36 sts;
4th row: knit;
5th row: as the 1st row of the relief pattern = 24 sts;
6th row: knit;
7th row: * double decrease, 1 knit st*; from * to * around = 12 sts;
8th row: knit2tog around = 6 sts.
Cut the yarn. Draw the loose end through the sts and tighten.
