For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
100 grams of Stylecraft Special Aran yarn
5.50mm hook for main part & 5.00mm hook for brim

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made from top to bottom in rounds without turning.
With 5.50mm hook make a magic circle, work 2ch, (RS) 12htr into the circle, pull loose thread to close circle, miss 2tch, ss to first htr on beginning of round. (12htr)
2nd Round – (Inc round) Working into BLO for this round, make 1ch, 2dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 2dc into each htr to end, miss 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of round. (24dc)

3rd Round – 1ch, 1htr into each dc to end, miss 1tch, ss to first htr on beginning of round.
4th Row – (Inc round) Working into BLO for this round, make 1ch, 2dc into the stitch at the base of the 2ch, 1dc into next htr, * 2dc into next htr, 1dc into next htr, * rpt from * to * to end, miss 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of round. (36dc)
5th Round – 1ch, 1htr into each dc to end, miss 1tch, ss to first htr on beginning of round.
