Crochet Beanie Hat
You'll need:
2 skeins of red yarn (30% wool, 70% polyacryl; 100m/100g);
Crochet hook 7.
Instructions
Total Height: 34 cm
Head Height: 21 cm
Fold: 8 cm
Crown is 5 cm higher, than head.
For these measurements you'll need 76 rows (or 76/2 = 38 cables, as pattern repeat is 2 rows) and 56 sts.
Start working with wrong side row.
Seam will go along one side of hat, because it'll make more comfotable to sew the crown.
Make 57 chain sts, 56 double crochets through back arches, starting from the 2nd st. This is wrong side row of the 1st cable.
Turn your work and start making the next cable. Crocheting of all the next rows is always through back half-sts. Start each row with chain st increase, which isn't counted. Don't strengthen it.
When you come to making the third cable, don't crochet the last 2 sts of the right-side row, make increase st and crochet wrong side row.
When you come to crocheting the central part or when you need to add sts after crocheting central part, the principle of work is the same: catch the side of previous cable, then back loop of the 1st unfinished st (from the previous cable), and catching the working yarn, draw through all the sts on the crochet hook. Make the second slip st as usual.
When your hat is ready, the "tails" of beginning and end should be from right side of hat. In order to make thin seam, make it with half the yarn thread.
Then, fold the hat roght-side inside. Then, sew with double crochets, catching both side of arch from one side and only back part from another side.
